Tyres will be out a fair bit from the arches?

Car is up on the jack in that photograph, so when it's lowered back down (with a tyre on the rim) it should sit just right with the lip of the rim level with the arch.

    Serviced my Clio yesterday

    Carplan 10w-40 Semi-Syn = 10 euros in Tesco
Oil Filter = 5.50 in Autopart
    Air Filter = 6.85

Didn't bother with the fuel filter, did it the last time.

Topped up coolant which I had lying about.

Anyways, 23 euros for a mini service. Jesus I love bangernomics.

All happy for another 6k miles.

I'm not being funny here or anything but apparently, heated seats have been shown to be bad for production of the "little fellas" if you get me. It would, I would think, have to be a lot of exposure but I read about it somewhere. With that said, I have no idea how true it is :o

Yeah but so is cycling or tight boxers! I think you worry too much :p

I got fed up of my black mirrors

So, more parts from thin air, sort of :)
    Image2392.jpg

    Clean it and sand it...
    Image2393.jpg

    Chase the damp....
    Image2394.jpg

    Carefully apply the first coat
    Image2395.jpg

    Apply a good few more
    Image2396.jpg

Lacquer the crap out of them, leave to dry for a few hours, then stick to car
    Image2397.jpg

Not a great job but sweetens the look of the car a lot :D

It's close enough and if the rest of the car was washed, polished and waxed, they'd be closer.

yay .. nearly got brown trousers ....

was servicing wifes car, vw polo 2010, 1.6 tdi. Not really familiar with diesel car servicing, obviously ... there is some difference .. :D

Changed air filter, oil filter, flushed old oil, put new one. all grand, now to change diesel filter. ... well, i just changed,

...................... and car refused to start ... shiiiit.

car refuses start, shows check engine and oil light flash and beeps for 3 seconds...

found servicing manual, it says, diesel filter and system has to be bleeded .... and what the way ?? manual says " connect to vw diagnostic system , and follow diesel filter bleeding procedure "..... and bla bla bla ... ... shiiiiit....

was trying start for 5 -7 times ... nothing ...

when switch ignition on, it buzzing for couple sec, then stops, disconnected diesel feeding line, it spits fuel for 3 seconds, then stops ... that way i filled diesel filter... switch on , off, on.. off... until i got diesel in high pressure pump feeding pipe.
    still couldn't start car.

i have no vw diagnostic system, but have proper, original vag-com .
    connected up, no faults shown.....

found in "electrics" auxiliary fuel pump, possible turn on , i did turn on for 20 sec, and started car, and it fired up ... yeeeee....

dealing with that issue, i spend nearly 3 hours. so, will have to wash and clean in and out tomorrow.

Anyway, drove nearly 50 km , all good.
Next time will know what to do ... it is after 2 years :pac:

Twas told that was the colour of the car, platinum silver. Besides, aerosol can paint will never be the same as proper paint from a gun and the lacquer really shines in comparison to the rest of the car.

You have to remember that paint goes dull with age and with the care this car got I'm surprised its still somewhat resembles it's own colour!!! :p

It's very difficult to match paints up to original.
It's close enough and if the rest of the car was washed, polished and waxed, they'd be closer.

I was thinking that, a small cutting might restore the original colour!

Bonnets are very hard to get right but I'm going to see what I can do. There are a few marks on the car that I need to see to. The back bumper is seriously annoying me!

its my driving style and doing deliveries

tbh driving with a burnt clutch clutch is teaching me to drive better towards the clutch.

    just bad habits.

not the cars fault.. high mileage and my driving style

Today dgt did something to my car :D absolute legend

Replaced the nearside Wishbone and drop links with Meyle hd updated parts. Car not not only feels miles better but added unexpected bonus... all warning lights went out and DSC/ABS are now functional again! Tracking fixed itself so the angle sensor must have reset itself :D

*no engines were removed in the making of this post

Latest PlastiDip experiment was performed today.

    The test case...

    The beginning...

    The middle...

    Close to the end...

    Final result...

I think I shall call that a success. I also think I'll be doing my RS alloys with the same process soon!

    What colour plastidip is that?

    Dar, that looks class

One thing i will say about plastidip on wheels is, it really makes keeping them easy, just a case of a wipe and squirt with a hose and the finish keeps really well.

The first coat always looks crap though, did 5 coats on mine (only the face of the alloys as they will be removed and sold off soon)

It's a top secret PlastiDip process I may have created (ie. stole). :D

It's basically a standard Black PlastiDip base, but to get a metallic Gun Metal Grey finish, you use PlastiDip Silver Metalizer on top of it. ;)

You can also use a Gold Metalizer for a Bronze/Gold finish. The less you put on the more subtle it is, the more you lair it, the more silver/gold it will turn.

Here's a close up of when I had just put one light layer of the metalizer onto the Black PlastiDip...

Sorry but I'm stealing your stolen idea!
How many cans of each would I need?!

Don't be sucked in by his trickery, it's ALOT harder than it looks :pac:

It was for me anyway :o

I've only actually done that one alloy as the test case today, but by my calculations I used about a half can of Black and about a 1/3 of a can of Metalizer.

So to do all four wheels, I would suggest getting 3 cans of Black and 2 Metalizer. Should be plenty, with some spare for touch ups for when/if you get a puncture or new tyres etc... and the edges get lifted.

Wait till you stick on the wheel and tighten the nuts, then you will scream in horror like a confused teenage girl :)

    Hehe :pac:

Ah it'll be fine, I've made sure the dip goes some way down into the nut recess, but it's not all the way to the end, so it shouldn't tear anything when tightening.

I'm not sure when I'll be putting the ST alloys back on anyway, but after today I am kinda tempted... I miss them a bit. :(

I was tempted too but mine are dressed with pretty much bald Nankangs and they look like they were attacked by a herd of wild ducks with chainsaws (take a moment to visualise that) :p
