People were in tears last night so I don't think seeing the oil would make much difference :P

Fitted my chinese LEDs to the MR2 dash panel,,

Have to say its night and day the comparison! some difference..camera had same shutter speed as OEM bulbs / leds

    12 SMD Leds

    img0442custom.jpg

    Pull Apart half the dash:

    img0448custom.jpg

    img0449custom.jpg

    Remove cluster:

    img0450custom.jpg

The bulb holders need slight modification, using a small screw driver push in the contact clips and up the side contacts

    img0451custom.jpg

    ....the moment of truth...

    BEFORE:

    img0444custom.jpg

    img0446custom.jpg

    AFTER:

    img0455custom.jpg

    img0458custom.jpg

    Close ups:

    img0457custom.jpg

    img0456custom.jpg

As for brightness even at full dial its perfect...way brighter then OEM but no need to break out the sunglasses!

Have to admit - I'm very tempted now :)

Could I be a pain in the butt and ask a favour though? :o Any chance you could post a pic with them slightly dimmed if you get a chance in the next few days? I find the halogens we have to be uncomfortably bright at night on the brightest setting, especially after a long day, so I doubt I'd be using LED's on the brightest setting either.

No bothers, I will in the future, on the advice off mr2 memebers adding a red transparency behind the clocks to emphasise the red on the clocks.

Here you go, its no way hard on the eyes even on high:

Hmmmmm, maybe I should try and fit some LEDs to my cluster!

You may dust off the soldering iron.... ours weren't designed to be replaced!

Yeah i know, it's not too bad though...

That being said, I'm just too lazy to attempt it! I considered it before.

What way do ye install those interior lights? Id love to put some footwell lights into my VW cc. Im aware id need VAG-COM to activate the lights once installed (hoping I can find a good Samaritan locally to save me a few hundred) but what else is required? Struggling to find any decent guides to give me some idea where to begin.

Closest ive found is this, but it lacks some detail (and images).

Installed a Parrot MKi9100 bluetooth car kit into my Octavia. Even with the proper iso connecters, I still had to run a cable from an ignition source. Very happy with it, had it in the old car and missed it. Have bluetooth, mp3 etc now.

Used Demonshine after a wash, impressive stuff if even just to help speed up drying the car off
