What happens if you go over the 500mb limit? Can you buy a data add on if needs be during a month?
you can buy a 500mb add on once per month only.
there is suggestions of a 1gb add on but i havent seen it (or really looked for it yet)
    OR
you are charged 70c per day for up to 50MB, after that its standard data rates. (this also applies if you buy the add-on and use up the 500MB)

Cheers subway. Any idea how much the additional 500mb data add on is? Just wondering if it's worth my while going for the €25 per month plan which offers 1GB.

Is anyone on the 500mb plan and now wish they had went with the 1GB plan instead?

    Its 4.99

The phones only been availability a few weeks so hard to say if it's changed my usage.

Previously I would use around 500 to 1000MB but wifi ia available in most places I go these days so it seems less of an issue. Also think I have avcess to bit buzz via work so looking into that ffor free data

OMFG My note2 just flew, hit wall and dropped on the floor... I put the gel case only yesterday and was going to remove at some stage today... Was playing with daughter and she hit the phone accidently... Gel case stays on the phone for good!

Is it the size or the cost of this phone that seems to have people more worried than normal about putting a case on?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,113 ✭✭✭subway

bit of both, would be expensive to replace the phone or repair the screen and the size makes it feel more likely to get damaged.

my s2 has a lot of wear and tear in certain places and that only shows up after time so want to avoid that again. had to replace the camera lens due it being very easily scratched but uckily it was the same piece as the backing plate that was also ruined.
not so easy with the rest of the body which has quite a few chips and scrathes but more expensive to rebild the whole thing.

so far ive actually chipped the paint on 3 of the 4 corners of the note 2 which is a bit poxy tbh. havent dropped it so its just wear and tear i guess

So what type of case is everyone going for then? I'm not too fond of the flip cases, even though they probably offer the best protection (they hide the much useful notification led though).

Is anyone using a TPU case? That would be my preference, cheap yet very functional, and it shouldn't hide the phones good looks too much either.

I like my gel case. Get some on ebay, there are plenty of them...

    Folks,

Cannot seem to connect to our MS active sync server on the note 2. Keep getting the message that there are security features that are not supported on this android device, allow unassigned applications and allow unassigned applications installer. Any idea of the cause and possible fix

    Any help is appreciated.

I'm using a leather sleeve. Not fond of the leather flip cases either. Had on on my Motorola Atrix 4G for a short while had to get rid of it. More hassel than anything.

I was due an upgrade in december but had meteor release me 2 months early so i could upgrade to this 2 weeks back.

Ive no issue with it in my pockets, fits my hand perfect (i dont think i could go back to a smaller phone again), aside from a few people commenting on the size (jealousy i assume as they have iphones) havent dropped it on a night out yet!

Does anyone have any app suggestions that are especially good on the N2 as opposed to other android devices?

I use flipboard a lot and it makes the most of the bigger screen. I got youtube downlaoder from the Samsung apps too which is very useful too. Set it off downlaoding while I'm at work which is going to be handy for a few plane journeys at the weekend too.

Also, anyone know a decent car mount? I don't mind paying for a quality item.

TBH since the DPI is so crap by default all apps work the same which is why I lowered mine to actually make use of the screen  ffs samsung.

wrt to car mount, I've had a few of those suction ones and they are BRUTAL. got this as a last chance salon and it is awesome. really really good the suction actually has that sticky stuff on it that is reusable (like those grip mats) and comes with a more permanent 3m sticker if your dash needs it. mine doesn't however. The actual clamps that grip your phone are super tight and I get very little wobble - perfect :)

The best option out there is brodit... Dedicated for car and phone. I suggest to check their website for details.

I was in carphonewarehouse because they had stock, when they tried process it it wouldnt go through as it was still in contract, chap there rang up meteor and had them release me from the old contract. simple. theyd prob do it over phone if you rang meteor yourself and ordered it.

I have always used them but unfortunately the options for my car block displays and the lower console mount isn't going to work either for me - too far away as the interior is quite wide. Also wont work with the case I use.

has anyone unlocked one of these? ie so that it can use a sim from any network?

Is this a massive leap between phones,I lost my last phone (htc onex) and now looking to get a new phone, from what I can see the note 1 is same if not better than the onex and im very tempted to purchase. The only feature that I would like is the multi app feature and paying an extra 250 is a bit steep I think.

Also since alot of people might have upgraded from the note and want to get rid I dont mind if ya pm me ,kill two birds with one stone

So how is everyone getting on with their new toy now?!

I have had mine just over a week and still can't put it down!

There were a few slight changes I made to make it feel like my own.

For example, I hated the stock browser and chrome was still a bit glitchy for me, so I rooted the phone, replaced the stock browser with the stock browser from the galaxy nexus and installed flash on it. Its perfect!

I wasn't keen on the Samsung default keyboard so Installed an ice cream sandwich keyboard on it and it works perfect.

So theres little things like that. I'm enjoying the battery life on it. Okay its not as great as some others being reported here but I'm a heavy user so the 15-20 hours I'm getting I am satisfied with it.

Media i am enjoying, the radio works a treat as does my music and its great to have the micro sd card slot to store it. Its a pity its not possible to access the music hub in ireland, i heard its a great app. Also the notification light is better than the one on the galaxy nexus, its just a pity blue is the only colour for calls, texts, emails etc!

Overall though i am happy though I would say its the best device I've had yet and have no intention on replacing it anytime soon!

You might need to start playing with it a bit more then. Cant remember what i did, but ive white for calls, green for texts(sms, whatsapp, gtalk), blue for emails. I know i changed them the day i got it and before i rooted and messed with things, so they must be in the stock settings somewhere.

Also, just google the google music apk abd install it, and use a vpn to register and youll have access to the play music.

Install this to change the colour of the LED. There is a paid version as well.
