Havent seen it mentioned yet but you can now add extra apps to the split screen drawer with this mod.

You can change the touchwiz grid to 5x6, 5x5, 4x5 with this one.

I'm running a 5x6 at the min and it looks infinitely better than the 4x4.

You will need to be rooted for this to work.

(assuming you are just on stock with root)
1. Download the MOD you want from XDA post
2. Use any root explorer and go to system/app
3.Search for SecLauncher2.odex and change its name to SecLauncher2.odex.bak (you may need to allow write access to system folder in root explorer settings)
4.then go to recovery and install the mod zip file
5.Reboot... and enjoy

Not the most exciting homescreen picture but you get the idea... widget is 5x3 so that's why it looks big - and the page indicators seem to have moved to below the app bar on the bottom. But S-note still pops up still when you pull out the pen, so all is good!

Edit: Seems a few widgets won't size (or resize) properly, can live with that though, and find replacements.

To root or not to root?
Do I lose anything if I root it?? And it it reversible???

To root of course!

You may lose warranty if you flash custom roms, but can easily unroot and reflash a stock rom through odin at any point to restore warranty (or so the internets tell me - its never bothered me either way)

Rooted you can flash mods like above, remove stock apps thay are normally unable to remove, you can install adaway and get rid of all those annoying adds on the boards.ie app etc, (id forgotten how annoying ad banners were - 1st day unrooted annoyed me so much i had to root it after that)

Cant think of a reason not to root.

(edit: you will probably lose the ability to recieve ota updates - though they can be downloaded from sammobile and applied manually)

Im 50/50 on rooting.
I can't use my byod email if I root so am trying to see if I can live without it.

These mods are nice tho and its good that you keep all the stock features

You could always try root device, install mod, then using triangle away to temp unroot phone and see if that will allow byod email to work afterwards?

I would think that it 'should' work as once the mod has been installed it no longer needs root access, root is only needed to write to the /system folder. Obviously any apps requiring root wont work after.

Worst case would be it doesnt work and you need to reflash stock firmware to bring you back to square one.

Aye but both Nova and Apex don't work as well as touchwiz, thy are glitchy and buggy at times. This pisses me off no end as I hate TW.

Im on nova for about 3months and has been working excellent on galaxy note one and two... I agree with go launcher as i dropped it after while but nova is superb. What issues did you notice?

My grey flip cover arrived earlier along with the screen protectors. Covers the scratch easily (its miniscule after the initial shock) so I'm sorted. Still having some crazy things happen when connected to blue tooth though!

just learned this today, if you long press on the "handwriting button" on the stock keyboard you can change it to a comma or question mark.
saves a bit of time typing

I'm at about 22% battery on my first day. Taken off charge at about 8:00am or so and screen has been on for nearly 4 hours out of the 14 hours or so. Playing a few games (Rayman is too damn addictive!!!). Impressed so far, so it will be telling to see how long it lasts once I start using it normally and don't mess about with things.

It has an sdcard slot that you can add up to 64GB of storage through.

I had a close call earlier dropped my phone on the concrete path it landed on its corner thankfully only left a little chip.

I picked up my original Note from amazon.de, but I notice they won't ship the Note 2 to Ireland? Can anybody recommend a good place to pick up one unlocked at a similar price to amazon.de? Thanks.

For those who bought their phone on Meteor €20.33 18mth contract, could you answer some questions please?

Is the phone locked? Can it be unlocked at any stage?
Does wifi tether work?
What happens if you go over the 500mb limit? Can you buy a data add on if needs be during a month?

im not too sure, it seems to be DLNA sharing?
it works for pictures/music/video in the samsung apps.

trying to figure out if its possible in other apps too.
