looks really nice for what could probably be haggled down to €1500.

Serviced with a good service history, nearly new rubber all round, the guts of a years N.C.T., the only killer is the tax really?

I've one with near half the mileage and wheels that aren't rotten. Id nct it if I thought I'd get that for it :)

    Dunno about any of that

What I do know is that there are some people in this country owning and driving nice cars considerably better than most other cars, and some of those people pay less for it in total cost of ownership than other people drving shiny bits of automotive excrement from Korea :D

Makes me owning a Polo feel pretty inadequate. Those 1.6 engines may be underpowered but are relaible afaik and who cares when you have legroom?

Leather....Check. Cruise..... Check. Air Con.... Check. NCT..... Check.

Looks bloody tidy. Yours for around a grand with a bit of a haggle. No reason to have to sit a bangernomics sh!tbox when nice cars are this cheap.

    If I can't get insured on a 1.6 volvo as a student, I doubt they'll entertain me for a 2 litre Saab.

Then again, never know until you try.

    You might be suprised ;)

These things are not as expensive to insure as you'd think. Something to do with the fact that its predecesor (which went out of production 20 years ago) is still safer than some new cars today. Can you imagine how low the pay outs for injuries are in one of these. You'll write off another car in a car park by just opening the door on to one. You'd have to hit a small planet to get hurt in one. :D

My insurance went up about 15c from a 1.4 megane to a 2.0t saab 9-5.
You never know. Sure bang in an online quote there for the giggle.

    +1

Contrary to popular belief, insurance is NOT based on engine size of a car, or even how powerful or fast it is

It is only based on accident statistics. These statistics will no doubt show that the typical Saab driver is low risk, so insurance premiums will be low

Little factoid for the pub quiz: when the Saab 9-5 was tested by Euro-NCAP it was the safest car ever tested by them :)

It can't be. Getting insured on a 1.8 A4 is fairly easy (Albeit not cheap at ~€2000) but I wouldn't even be able to get a quote for a 2.2 Saab.

2.2 diesel? If so, then they probably think you'll do lots of miles and increase the chance of a crash, maybe?

Insurance on the 240hp jag was the same as the 90hp eventless diesel so there's no logic to it

Hi all, was told about this thread from a friend.

On the lookout for a Mazda 3 petrol, whether h/b or saloon.

€3k max budget, anybody know of any decent ones for sale? (West too preferably)

    Cheers, Kaiser :)

    Decent Spec.
    Service History.
    Long test.
Prob could do with knocking a couple of quid off the asking.

    Looks nice though.

Falls outside of bangernomics on a few levels, i.e. no tax or NCT, and 2k over the usual bangernomics budget, and moreover, isn't a banger, but it is very very cheap:

Wonder can the miles or provenance be established?

How flipping big is the gear stick?!

Edit: actually I thought they had a mad looking "space ball" looking gear stick in the manuals, or was that just a special edition like the r?

That was optional, cousin has it on his 07 S model but most other ones don't have it

These are a nice way to get 5 people around. If its still around, they will probably bite at 450? NCT til January and tax til the end of the month.
