Any chance you could post the channels file by itself? Editing the channels is doing my head in and Herself is getting annoyed that I am hogging the TV and swearing....

I've edited the original post http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=81152428&postcount=331 just checked it and link works ok

Not sure what you mean by channel file ?

The 120 is discontinued for some time now.

What I meant was a handy list of channels like STB provided before:

Since I have already done the firmware upgrade, I don't want to do it again.
If you have that version of the firmware, you just need to load this channel list to a USB stick and choose "Upgrade by USB" in Tools menu, then right click on upgrade mode til you get to "User DB", click down to start (file displayed should be DumpFile STB 07-12.abs).

    Got the 150 box.

Through the scart cable on a CRT TV the picture is a bit fuzzy. I hooked up the Sky box via scart on the same TV and the picture is way sharper.

It's fine on a HDTV though via HDMI. But the mother prefers CRT (LCD too bright). I changed the settings to what was recommened for scart in user manual. Maybe the sky box is just better?

Thats still a firmware file , you can do exactly the same thing with the file i've linked to as long as the firmware versions match. A full firmware upgrade does not take that much longer in any case.

No problem I have bricked loads of boxes. You get over the shock when you do it a few times! It will be fine.

Hi STB. That cable arrived today.

But this is turning into a disaster. I only had one old PC with a null modem connection, but can't remember the password. I've been trying for hours with various software trying to bypass my own password. Not many PC's have that connection as most people have laptops now.

I'll keep trying and get back to you. Thanks for your help gain. Wish I never downloaded that file.

    Hi

I have an issue with one of these boxes (150) and I wonder if anyone else has seen it:

I bought a Seagate Expansion 2TB external disk but it won't "wake up" when plugged into the back USB port, only if plugged into the front port - is this a fault or is there some functional difference between the two USB ports?

    Thanks

Probably too big, does the disc have its own power supply ?

It has its own power supply. It works fine on the front USB port.

The manual just says NTFS + self powered, no mention of a size limit (except to say that if all the files are in 1 directory it maybe slow).

Apologies just re read your post. The rear port should work exactly as the front does but one limitation is that only one port can be used at a time.

Yes, I'm only using one of them at a time. Maybe its a fault then.

It should be noted that you can buy a Serial adaptor that plugs into the USB port, should you really need a serial port. I don't think they're too expensive, just make sure the drivers support your version of Windows (or other OS).

Thanks to STB, my box is now working again. Such a knowledgeable and helpful guy. I'm delighted.

I tuned in Saorview channels, but RTE 2 HD is not on the list.

Edit: Thought RTE had a dedicated HD channel, but now I'm watching a HD program on RTE Two with the HD logo. Pretty impressive too..

Recorded a program on a USB stick, but when I went to play it back it kept flickering and freezing.

I'm delighted with the 150, but I'm surprised it doesn't have a 7 day EPG, considering this cheap Bush box has it.

Only Freesat branded boxes have 7 day EPG.

    The Ariva is not Freesat.

Thanks John. I'll just use this website for listings. http://www.freesat.co.uk/what-you-get/tv-guide

Would a 1tb external hard drive be too big for 150? I see Walker recommends a max 320gb, and says it must be powered. I ask this as when I recorded onto a USB stick, the playback was very poor (freezing).

The HDD size should be mentioned in the manual .... I don't have access to manual at present.
The 'powered' requirement is for HDDs ..... flash sticks are OK ..... but they need to be of good speed for reading and writing. Crappy flash sticks will not work very well.

You *might* get away with using a USB powered HDD ... but I would advise against it.

Thanks again John. The USB stick I used was indeed a crappy slow transfer yoke.

The manual recommends a Hard Drive with an independent power supply, but doesn't say what size ie. 500g or 1tb. They also recommend formatting the drive in NTSF, but says FAT32 should also work.

    I'll give the 1tb a shot.

If the 1TB has problems, try creating a partition of about 700GB leaving the rest of the space unused .... it might work if the 1TB as a single partition doesn't.
I suspect it will though .....

I have the 1TB (powered) hooked up now, and there's about 400GB of space. I will always leave at least 300BG free.

I test recorded a few programs and the playback was perfect. I'll report back it there's any future problems as it's handy info for other users.

    Got another 150 Ariva today.

Purchased it from Satellie.ie this time. Less than 24 hours delivery and the latest firmware/channel list pre-installed. Comes with the right plug adaptor too (unlike some electrical stores).

    Great service.

    Hi folks.

Is there a way of saving my own personal channel list to a USB?

Can't seem to see anything on it in the manual.

Yep go to the Menu, Tools, USB upgrade option and select Dump which will create dumpfile.abs on your usb stick . I'd recommend you only transfer to another box that has the same firmware version as the original

This is the latest one posted on this forum. http://www.mediafire.com/?3vh17gs2jd1yj4u

Should there be a more recent one, given that BBC changed some channel numbers? Not sure myself.

Sorry for a probably stupid question, but how does one make a single ABS file containing both a software update and preconfigured channel data?
