Part of the official statement McAuliffe Trucking have released includes:

''On Sunday 14/10/12 we had a photo shoot to start promotion of the Charity run. I had rang the Castleisland Gardai for permission on Friday 12/10/12 could we do a photo shoot on the N21 and the Castleisland Bypass. The Gardai gave me permission to do this.
I then arrannged a meeting with all the staff for 3pm on Saturday 13/10/12 and we went through everything and assigned jobs and traffic controllers. I also carried out a full risk assessment and got everyones signature. Sundays weather was good and we all met in the yard and started our preparations. We had traffic controllers at the front and back for the 3 truck video shoot and then the rest was photo shoots at the view point and the bridge on the bypass of Castleisland.''

    Got a link for that?

Does he go on to explain how come the truck under the bridge then caused a 2 car collision? A haulage company should know much better than this, whatever the reason for these bizarre videos, perception is everything. The whole thing is unbelievably misguided and may (should?) end up costing someones job.

Surely a judge in a court of law has the sole discretion and authority to close a main arterial route not a local Garda with respect?

The 3rd driver didnt know his way there so he stopped under the bridge with his Hazard, parking and dipped headlights on and waited for one of the other drivers to come down the steps and sit in with him to guide him to the bridge road. He was waiting no longer than a minute and during this time a silver car came up behind him and swung out in to the path of another car. There was a touch of bumpers and the two cars stopped, the drivers got out, talked to each other, shook hands and went away''

All that preparation wasted because the driver didn't know where he was going.

Stop digging holes. Neither of the roads were closed or managed. Your company screwed up. Hold your hands up and follow legal procedures and learn from your stupidity.

Ah well, that’s alright then.. right, it’s sorted now that we know the drivers are the best of friends after the collision, lock the thread please, no more to be said :D

Just had another look. Not a hope that the roads were closed. In the video of the 3 trucks alongside each other a truck has to pull in to let a car coming towards him pass. Also a car in the hard shoulder.

I'm flabbergasted , by first the videos and now secondly by the responses.

This is going out of control, what ever about the first video. The second video the road is certainly not closed and a car going the correct way down the road was forced into the hard shoulder to avoid a truck coming the wrong way down a road.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,385 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

I'm fairly sure the second 'reply' is just a piss take.

It hasn't gone out of control until they claim somebody's mailed death threats. Kind of unlikely for that to happen.

Unless they were uninsured at the time.

Blatantly a pathetic attempt at damage control that comes far too late and after too much garbage that refutes the claim you had permission, an example is your bizarre copyright threats to try and hide your incompetance, also trying to act like your not a McAuliffe rep and just relaying info youve read somewhere is just embarrassing especially when you can provide no link to said statement.

TBF, there's no proof of who this person is and what organisation (if any) they are associated with or represent. It could just be some randomer adding fuel to the fire. We're still waiting for an official press release from the two companies linked to these incidences.

Will you ever feck off out of that.

    1. Why did you contact McAuliffes for this 'statement' that they haven't released to the media or posted to their website or FB page?
    and then
    2. Register on boards to post excerpts from the mystery 'statement'?

I would agree here. But for the recent joining date, and post count of three. In this thread. Just a bit too coincidental methinks.
    However, innocent until proven guilty.
