Great win. What odds was he before it started?

No idea. I had a fiver on him at 18 to 1 last night (saver for my customary bet on PH).

He's so natural. No pretending not to be delighted when Fisher missed his putt in the 18th. He's rapidly becoming my second favourite player after PH.

Great win - well deserved. Delighted for him. Hopefully Sky will now give him a bit more coverage.

Well, it will get him into the next WGC tournament, so that's a start. Where he goes from there is up to him.

He'll be in the 60's in the world ranking. A good position to push on from.

Looking at the world rankings, I think the 34 points he will get for winning this will put him in the mid 70s.

Delighted for him, seemed to be a fair few Irish out there following him today. Great night beckons!

Fair enough, I was assuming 40 points. Still his highest ever and he often plays well at the end of the year too. Here's hoping.

    Delighted for Shane.

    Fair play Shane.

And to think people were only talking about him on here as if he was a hacker , keep it up. I said it before, if he keeps going, I can see him win an Open.

There you go, that is the crap that I'm talking about.

Look, he should lose a few pounds and will at some stage. But the best thing out of Rep of Ireland in 20 years.

But the best thing out of Rep of Ireland in 20 years.

Surely that honour is reserved for one Padraig Harringhton..

Great effort today though delighted for him!!

    1995 / 1996 for Padraig

Very similar the way the 2 of them emerged, an early tour win. I just have the feeling Shane will pick up a few more victories quicker.

    Ya turned pro in 95..

Bold statement, has a way to go to be as good as harry.. And not being a pessimist because I quite like the guy but do you believe he can match 3 major wins? I doubt it.

No wasn't saying he could match harry - 20 years was excluding Paddy - thinking his amateur stuff - so since Paddy - sure who else has come out from the Republic.

    Murphy
    Lawrie
    McGrane

I think he will do more. Maybe The Open.

We will never see a Harry again,

Well unless Shane keeps going the way he is going - all the way up except his injury

Come on shane - don't tell anyone each way on The Open for next 5 years (my Tip).

We will never see a Harry again,

There will be more like him someday.

N.I. have presently more top golfers than ever........before this present crop then you'd have to go back to David Feherty and Ronan Rafferty and before that it was Eddie Polland.
