Trying to figure out where I want to go for Erasmus is wrecking my head! It seems awful early to be deciding, I just want to hid! :p Anyone any suggestions of places they went and liked (not wanting to bring the thread off-topic just wondering)? :o

Malta scares me!:o I was thinking the Netherlands, England, Belgium or Switzerland. One of them hopefully!

Why is it that still some sockets in the library still do not work? Do they not fix them over the summer?!

fixed some of them, but when you have idiots sticking pens into them for god knows what reason they tend to break. Natural selection at work

Waited an hour at the bus stop in town only to see four (mostly empty) 304 buses pass by. Perhaps the 30 plus people all waiting outside Centra wasn't an obvious enough sign to pull over. I hope that they sort this out soon because getting to and from UL from town is a nightmare

Not worthy of a new thread; Anyone here used your Studentmail to register MS Office University? It's €20 cheaper than Home+Student and includes Outlook so am thinking of picking it up but don't want to waste money if it's not going to verify.

What difference does it make if it doesn't verify? Mine hasn't verified and has been running grand for aaaaages now.

Well I assumed that buying the disc would only get you a 90 day trial or something. And anyway, I'd just prefer to activate it if possible. :)

If they opened a exit on the Clare side of the campus it would become a rat run for every Joe Bloggs to cut across and avoid the city, making the congestion at rush hour even worst.

Leave it as it is, there is an option for Pedestrians and Bikes.

I think that they should open an entrance there for cars but you need a student or staff I.D to open it. Without that the entrance won't open.

They won't do that though.Instead they are just making a pay car park at Burlington.

Its a terrible idea too imo. Why spend ~€2 a day for parking when you'll still have another 15-20 minute walk until you get to the campus.

It'll be some craic walking up there on your own at 8 or 9 p.m in the middle of November :pac::pac:

The speed of the computers upstairs in the library used for the library catalogue are absolutely dire!
On numerous occasions it's cut off altogether on me and just rebooted itself!
Happened to me everytime I've used them bar once I think,
And I was waiting for 5 minutes to get clarification that that particular book wasn't available...

Also finding the internet in the library as a whole painfully slow,
And trying to find a working internet cable in the library is harder than finding a needle in a haystack, in my own opinion... :/

Tbqh I think the internet speed is way better this year than last year. I've never had any problem with any of the cables.

Although the wireless in the reading room yesterday was awful yesterday, it was the firs time I had any problem with it this year.

When is this happening, or where has it been published?
Am suprised that whoever owns the Lame Duck hasnt convered the land into a paid car park.

If they are going to have a paid car park at Burlington I hope some of the money collected goes to lighting the lane way all the way down to campus!

I believe they are working on the car park currently and that it should be in operation in the next few weeks.I don't think they'll be lighting the road that's already there but I have heard that they might be building a path that will connect to the back of the new pitches. Nothing has been confirmed yet and if it does ever go ahead I can see it taking years to get sorted just like the car park situation.

They surely wont cancel RAG week
It's Charity Week, and so what if it was replaced with a Ball? If anything it'll stop the incessant complaining by local residents and students still get their fun (read: pissup)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,277 ✭✭✭Chris Martin

    Exactly,
    In the students eye,
The week in which the ball will be on will be Charity Week,
Just void of events organised by the SU.
So essentially it's the same as last year but without any money going to charity..
Lest the proceeds of the ball go towards it,
    And that'll be pitiful.
To be honest I don't care at all,
I never went to any of the events last year,
In fact it was an inconvenience getting through the crowds to go to lectures..
I don't know what the story with this ball is going to be either,
    Assuming it does go ahead,
Will be hard to drag the festivities out over the week.

Would love to say I'm on the fence in deciding,
    But I'm actually sitting inside,
Not giving a flying one on the outcome..

Great to see how riled up people get though,
If I was to pick a positive from the matter

Not all students will be able to go to the ball though.. unless they get a venue to hold the thousands of students..
