My Ariva 250 just arrived. I wired it up and turned it on and I'm getting nothing. The TV says "no signal" and the readout on the box is "write pending app data in handlock".
Has anyone any help to give me? What should I do next? Tia

    It says what!

Afraid i've not come across that message before , as a first step I would disconnect everything but the power lead from the box and then re boot it using the power switch at the back. Then see if the message is the same

Thanks for that, it worked, and I reconnected everything one at a time and it still works.
The remote control isn't responding now. I can see this being a bit of a headache.
    Thanks again.

Its a universal remote so you might have accidentally set it to tv or dvd. Press the STB (set top box) button once and see if it responds then.

I give up, can't understand how I can a uhf signal on 2 arriva 120 combo boxes and can't get a signal on arriva 150 combo box on the very same cable.I've swapped over the boxes twice but can't get any Irish channels.I've checked me signal strength and quality both over 80% on the 120's and nothing on the 150.I must have been sold a dude

Is that not slavery ? :) Try the set up menu and under "other" turn off the DVBT power and see if that makes any difference.

Got mine from the bauld Tony today. Is this guy professionalism personified or what? Anyway, I previously had the 120 (which I sold today for 60 quid) and the thing I noticed straight away is how much faster/more responsive the 250 is in comparison to the 120. On screen menus are much classier too and everything is laid out in a more user friendly manner. The media player is better too as is the remote control. However, one gripe with the remote control is the annoying clicking sound it makes when using the silver circular bit. Is this the case with everyone's or is it just me? Great little box though which they seem to be styling around the Humax Foxsat. Nice touch too is when going up and down through channel names from the list menu is the little now and next pop out window.

I have the Walker WP2212LCD telly upstairs connected to this box. What remote code should I try in order to operate it from the Ariva remote? The Vestel codes?

I know ye were saying earlier in the thread about the wifi usb adapters getting too hot and failing.

As i am close to my wifi router... its in the next room to the ariva 250... it is quite close but i still would prefer not to run a cable to the ariva from the router.

Would this Ferguson wifi dongle be okay, or is this on the list of useless ones that overheat and fail? Can anyone confirm?

If you have the original remote, just use the learn function. Simples :)

Oh I didn't know it had that (having not bothered me arse to read the manual). Thanx :D

I see that to record to hdd, you select timer from the Guide and then need to go to timer menu and change option from 'channel' to 'record'.
Is there any way to set 'Record' as default setting when you select timer ?
    Thanks

After you set it the first time it should stay on "record" unless you change it again.

Is it easy to record stuff on the 250? As in can you just select a programme from the EPG and hit record or so you have to set on/off times for everything?

you can change your record format in the setttings but all u got to do to tape is hit the record button, u can set up timers 2

They are all the same mate, same specs etc, any I used ran really hot, if your going to use one try one with the aerials on them, pic up the signal better than those, you can get em on fleabay, and for half they money than those

O Prez some of the mitsubishi codes will work with that walker TV, I tried them and few of them worked. Have a look at the back of the instruction manual and you'll find them.

i got a 250 lately aswell but not that impressed as it completely froze three times already and the only way to get it working again was to switch off the box at the back and allow it to reboot . seems to happen alot when i go into the entertainment section and try to download movie clips etc or it happened once when i was recording onto my mains powered hard drive....has anyone else had problems with their box freezing up completely or am i just jinxed?

Does anyone know the answer to this? Like if I call up the Saorview channels on the EPG and see a film starting in 3 hours time can I just move the cursor to it and tell it to record it or do I have to manually input the start time and stop time for everything?

There is no EPG, only now and next. You have to 'wake up' the channel at the program start time, so yes, manually input.

This is not as user friendly as a sky box, but it's a bloody great combo box for the price. I bought my third 150 box today for only €100. It's the exact same as the 250, but doesn't display the channel name on the box, and the remote doesn't work other devices like dvd players etc. Two features I have no interest in.

Great media player too, plays every file.
