This is so sad. :( It cetainly appears the police know a lot more than what was in the media to date

According to a Lateline reporter over there the suspect is now helping police to locate her body, he was photographed being taken from the police station.

I think any tiny shred of hope is gone. Poor girl.

    MOD

This is breaking news so please refrain from speculation for respect of her friends and family until more info is released.

    Thanks

Rape & Murder Charges Likely In Meagher Case/4284826
Police have held a late night media briefing following the arrest of the Coburg man on Thursday afternoon and say they expect to lay charges in an out of sessions hearing later this evening.

ABC Melbourne journalist Hamish Fitzsimmons attended the briefing, where much of what was said remains off the record.

He says police are now trying to locate 29-year-old Ms Meagher's body.

Hope to fúck the police got to her family before the media broke this. I guess the guy confessed to the crime if they can know this before they even have the body. :(

    Poor girl. RIP

i agree surely the cops would not charge the guy without first locating a body? if they have really charged this animal, then most likely they raided his home and found all the evidence they needed. every parents worst nightmare.

from the updates it looks like this case will finished up very soon...

an absolute nightmare, from looking at the cctv footage that guy in the blue hoody looks really dodgy and suspicious.. :(

Anyone know what channel the press conference will be on?

    RTE Radio 1, Newstalk, Today FM etc . . . .

    SKY News maybe?

Unless they got a straight confession, I'm not sure how they'd charge the rape part...?

But I hope this whole thing comes to an end soon for her family's sake. Video is incredibly creepy. If it was the man in the blue hoodie, he was very brazen about it.

I have to say, this really is a pet hate of mine.

Any time a picture of someone accused of rape, murder, paedophilia, ... people say "Oh he looks dodgy "
if you see half of these people on the street, you wouldn't bat an eyelid ..

EVERYONE looks dodgy if they've done something bad

wouldn't it be great to be perfect.

Talk about misjudging the mood. Can we talk about this another time when we are done with awaiting the newly self confessed 'dodgy' looking rapist/murderer leading Police inevitably to this poor girls body?

    Fool.

eh...Are you for real? do you know the facts?

did you see that person pace by the cctv twice and then walk back up with her and see her sway towards the road it was obvious he is bothering her..she went missing straight after that.. she was making a call after he spoke to her...

2 other women have came forward saying it was that man that attacked them..

oh yeah a pet hate for those type of accusations.. no facts at all

get to know a case before making stupid posts

Can we leave the infighting for now? I'm well aware this is AH but this is actually tearing many people close to me apart. We are all desperately hitting F5 every 20 seconds in the hope of some, any news coming out on this disaster.

Can we declare a cease fire here until we know SOMETHING CONCRETE on this case. It's heartbreaking enough to watch my friends suffering so much without any news, any information. Once we know something you can call me every name you want under the sun, and I'll laugh in an After Hours kind of way.

It's a shocking situation to hope the find the body of such a wonderful person. I can't begin to imagine the nightmare this poses for her husband and family. I hate the 'oh she was x, and y' thing after something bad happens someone, but this is someone who really, really stood out as happy and full of joy.

Please let there be news soon, even if it is bad. Just so we know.

Apparently rape and murder aren't serious enough for the news now.

God, such an awful story. Heart goes out to the families.
