I'm enjoying it myself, with the circle pad pro.
It doesn't really feel like RE though, more like an action game.
The dodge move is a little flaky though.
Visually it's amazing, and if it can be picked up for less than the rrp well worth it.
It won't take you long to finish if you apply yourself, but it's trade in values aren't bad.

I thought the raid mode was a great idea, you could pick it up and play a couple of missions at a time. I not hearing great things about RE6 and I was so looking forward to it:(

Everyone needs to go & see Walking With Dinosaurs. It's that simple.

Felt more Resident Evil to me than RE5 anyway. There's actually some creepy moments put in there. Like the bit with the comms officer.

RE5 was a bit of a disappointment after 4, Personally I like 4 the most so it was going to have be some game to top it. I thought 4 brought the game in a whole new direction than the previous installments. Mercenaries on RE4 was epic, never forget unlocking the hand cannon. I think it was the most time I spent on a gamecube game wheras I just played through 5 a couple of times, it just didn't have the same lasting appeal although I still liked the game but grew tired of Sheva saying "Come on" far to much. I know 6 will be out soon so I wait with baited breath.

Went to see Spirited Away 35mm in the IFI this afternoon. Theres more visuals wasted on the small screen - envied everyone who was watching it for the first time!

I was there too! Was amazing, never saw it on the big screen before.

The 35mm print they had was a bit scratched up though, some nasty lines and that which just wouldnt bugger off.

Yeah it was definitely noticeable for the first ten minutes particularly, and the subtitles were a bit jumpy. But TBH once I got into it didn't bother me for the rest of the film - have seen much worse prints! The soundtrack was particularly enhanced through the joys of Dolby Digital :)

There were thin horizontal lines the whole way through the film. Not noticeable for most of it, but whenever there was a bright scene you could really see them.

Didn't detract too much, it was still a really enjoyable experience. Did you notice all the sniffly noises going on towards the end? :D

Yeah the thin scratches were a pain, but didn't really notice them after the first act or so. Or was sufficiently caught up in the world to not pay them any attention ;)

Really is quite the emotional and surprisingly funny film (never chuckled as much the many times I've watched it on DVD). And the kids in the audience seemed very well behaved. Last time I saw anime in the cinema a woman behind me was reading all the subtitles aloud for her kid :/

I was well impressed by the kids alright, they all stayed very quiet and really looked to enjoy it. To my surprise - as when I saw them coming in to a subtitled film I had a feeling it would end badly!

I know what you mean about the humour too, there seems to be a little something extra added when you have a load of people together in a room laughing at the same thing. I was chucking away to myself a lot more than I would be at home.

    Yup,
    There's two cable afaik.
The regular composite will only let you watch media, but the component one will let you play games on the telly.
    TV output and accessory port

    FROM WIKI

"Component cable, which allows PSP-2000 and -3000 models to output analog stereo audio and analog component (YPBPR) video
Sony added TV output to the PSP Slim through Firmware update 3.60. It can output in a conventional aspect ratio (4:3) or widescreen (16:9), and offers a screensaver if the PSP is inactive for a set amount of time. It is able to output games, videos, and other media. To achieve TV output on the Slim model, Composite, S-Video, Component (YPBPR) and D-Terminal (YPBPR) cables are sold separately by Sony. PSP format games are output as a progressive scan signal, which can be carried only by the Component and D-Terminal cables, and displayed on televisions which support progressive scan. They are also rendered at the 480 × 272 resolution of the PSP screen, rather than the 720 × 480 resolution used for output, and are not upscaled meaning they are displayed with black windowboxing when viewed to an external display. This can be overcome on some TVs by using built-in zoom functionality. However, the PSP system software, music player and video playback are displayed in full-screen. As of firmware update 5.00, PlayStation (PSone) format software purchased from the PlayStation store is output in full-screen mode and optionally in interlaced format for non-progressive displays. Although the user needs component cables and a TV that supports 480p (mainly found in HDTVs) to play PSP format software, a homebrew plugin called FuSa[94] allows anyone with a Slim PSP to view their games on any SDTV or HDTV using Composite or Component cables. The plugin is also advantageous to those with TVs that do support 480p because it allows a full screen (1:1 ratio) viewing of games. The maximum resolution through TV output is 720 × 480 pixels and composite video uses NTSC color encoding (no PAL composite signal is available; European TVs must be NTSC compatible to be used with a PSP via composite). The old PSP-1000 model is not capable of this feature due to a slightly different port. "

It is also felt that the just released Borderlands 2 is inevitably superior to past offerings like Deus Ex, System Shock 2 and maybe even Borderlands 1, who knows!!

Flavour of the month bull**** in all honesty. I thought Skyrim was the best game ever a few months ago.
Its great, when its not bugging out, having questgivers killed by rogue vampires , having quest issues where the fix is ' load an older save game, causing video card drivers to crash , double pointering, freezing and randomly crashing to desktop with no error or warning.
It'l be a great game when Bethseda actually finish it.

It depends on what PSP you have. The older ones you can't do it. Is this about your PSP screen because if so you could buy a new shell and I'll try and fix it if you want?

Sounds like a typical Bethesda game to me.

I just remember Morrowind and Oblivion being called the best games ever on release before ending up on most overrated lists a couple of months later. I do like Bethesda games but I find them too 'janky' and the writing a bit crap to be out and out classics.

Is the screen scratched? Check the links in my sig, there's a thread somewhere of me fitting a new case to a PSP that I got off Rewind Bits. Lovely job they are, made my PSP's brand new again

Scratched? Heh. I got off worse when it came to my PSP. My dog actually chewed mine up when she was still a puppy. And for some reason, I didn't bother buying a new one. Not sure why I didn't. I would have loved to have played the online enabled titles when we got broadband, later that year.

Thanks I'll have a look. There's a rainbow effect on parts of the screen but it seems to be hovering above the screen on the casing so I'm guessing it's lots of fine scratches rather than the screen being knackered.

Modding incentive is all region locking is these days. Even Sony, which is saying something, don't bother with it.

I'm sure there's some industry bollox type response that tries to validate it, but it's nonsense & always was.

Well not only does it make the European and US divisions less incompetent it ensures that people can't take advantage of currency rates like the japanese and europeans buying games from the US to take advantage of the weak dollar and avoid the 'european nintendo tax' they put on everything. Region locking should be a thing of the past and Sony surprisingly have been great for promoting this... then destroying one of the best importers for illegal reasons.

I think it's even more scandalous that Nintendo are region locking handhelds now, you'd think they would have learned from the popularity of rhythm tengoku and Ouendan that gave us western releases of these franchises or the backlash over operation rainfall that region locking is a bad thing.

I think I'll be picking up a US WiiU when the inevitable early adopters want to offload it when it's not being used then pick up a cheap PAL one later.

I actually see very little reason to buy one at this stage, I'm sure I'll get one eventually, but it'll be one hole in my collection that I don't mind looking at

I'm more looking forward to the mods and hacks people come up with for the WiiU and it's controller than the official system itself.
    Says a lot really.

Yep, I can think of a few ideas that could make the Wii U an immediate WANT! But until its security is compromised, we'll have to wait & see.
