I had no clue these things were in Bangernomics territory!!! Came as a real surprise to me.

Here's a nice example with tax and test.

That's the recession for you, in April 2007 I bought a 1995 Celica for €4200 and that was a bargain at the time.

Quite likely been above 90 degs more than once imo, he wouldn't know "possibly requires a new radiator fan resistor" otherwise me thinks. Asking price is ambitious if it was issue free.

€950 asking for an ok looking 156 with fresh NCT seems alright to me. Chances of finding a car asking less than €1k without any issues is unlikely anyway.

The increased possibility of the car been treated to some overheating would put most people off, a cooling issue is a potential biggy and it's nigh on impossible to ascertain has it been in the red, slightly more than the normal issues one would be willing to risk with a 14 year old car asking €950 imo.

Take off the Alfa blinkers and have a think about it.

Although in fairness there's a very decent chance you don't appreciate the gravity of the fan not coming on :)

    Potentially a much better proposition...

Asking €150 more, less miles, new NCt of unknown duration, admittedly 1.8 not 2.0 but had leather interior and looks better externally.

    Somebody stop me :pac::pac::pac:

There's no "Alfa blinkers" actually. On paper it's a large enough saloon with a brand new NCT. It has the decent 2.0 engine and if I had the means I would have a look and maybe hope to get it for €800.

Looking at your condescending comment above I may not be very mechanically minded but stupid I'm not. I very much understand the seriousness of te fan coming on thanks. :)

    You'd pay 800 for a possibly cooked 1998 156  unreal.
There was nothing condescending either by the way, I do remember you speaking favourably of a v6 mondeo that needed a stat housing, again, quite likely cooked. I do think you're placing too much value on the nct though, many do. If you understand the seriousness why risk 800 when you could find similar without obvious risks?

a years test, 6 disc changer, half leather, front fogs, air con i'm sure, smart enough looking car imo. probably not the most reliable/ efficient engine but if its straight you could do worse for the money.

horrible colour, very flawed car, "needs it gone" for suspicious reasons i'd say, but god help me i'd love it. love ZR's and they're becoming scarce.

It's not unreal. I like the car, it looks like an honest seller and the fresh NCT regardless of what you think, makes it roadworthy for me.

It was condescending and you know it, you made it out that I was an idiot and wouldn't be able to understand the seriousness of the fan not working properly.

Can you find me another 2.0 156 out there with brand new NCT for €800? I'd be doubtful if you could tbh..

.... Hardly roadworthy without the fan operating ;)
Over the next 2 to 3 months I have no doubt a 2.0 freshly nctd 156 will crop up with an asking price of similar to that one, theres not too many for sale at any one time as most of them are in scrapyards. You pulled 800 from your own head as anyone reading can see. The 1.8 one I put up would be potentially a far better buy would you not agree ?

Those Vectra's were known to be troublesome in their first two year!

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3921637

Irish car, unworn gear gator and not a bad colour, just into the bracket.

    Proper Bangernomics:

Choice of two NCT'd fiestas for €650 each:

    View2-14251796.jpeg

    Another 406 for €750

    View2-14428639.jpeg

I would be pretty dubious of that mileage though and I'm not sure what that warning light is!

    1.6 Focus Saloon for €1000

I'd say the ignition on that 406 is on without the engine started, hense the warning lights,

    Looks like ESP or something

Spot on. He also doesn't have the handbrake on.... :pac:

After 1998 they had abs as standard. Traction control was part of that methinks

    mk3 MR2 - €1650

Looks clean, although I prefer the mk2 in every way this might suit somebody. if theres a VVTI in it it'll probably consume oil ...

If ever there was an example of a thinly veiled jealous Irish begrudgers style comment, there’s one.

Thankfully most petrol heads will drive what they personally like despite begrudgers.
In fact the more it annoys the begrudgers, the more reason to drive one.
