I love this assumption that every diesel imported from the UK is clocked. It's not a fair comment to say they all are. 110k miles is fair enough miles anyway.

Car is certainly not ''mint'' though.

    its not imported either...

Its an expression that people use far too loosely. To me "mint" means pretty much to be in really close to the same condition as when the car left the factory.... Mint coming from the name of a coin factory. Now its highly unlikey that VW, Toyota, Ford or any other manufacturer would let a car leave the factory with dents, scratches or any kind of tears in the seats!

Back-street dealers always used to say 'mint' back in the day. Even now when I see it in an ad it rings a small alarm bell....

When we're looking at cheap, 12 year old diesels with pictures taken at night and a worn the hell out gear gator, I'm more than entitled to assume.

We've been through the before about this thread, assume everything until proven otherwise.

    Are those S60's reliable?

Lots of them coming into Bangernomics Territory.

Not sure. Lovely looking car though.

They seemed quite popular as a fleet car for a while but never saw many buying them privately... (based purely on my own observations as someone outside the trade).

It's just one of those cars that I've never even sat it (Not that I can remember.)

They're a beautiful estate local to me since new. 07, silver, fully colour coded with nice wheels. It was traded in against a new car and it didn't stay long on the forecourt, and it's still local.

Spoke to the mechanic the other day, his opinion is it's well built car. The main problem is mpg, and tax.
I even checked parts cost, and they don't seem to be very expensive.
Running cost is high, so they won't sell easily.
Was thinking about one meself, but decided it is to big for my needs atm.

A worn gaitor doesn't make the car clocked. I appreciate that quite a few UK cars are clocked on the way over, doesn't mean they all are. I would be cautious yes, but not assume indefinitely that it's clocked.

Do you know for a fact that car is clocked? If you do fair enough, if you don't then it isn't your own knowledge. :)

He bases his assumptions on his own knowledge.

From seeing hundreds of other cars. From knowing what a high miler will look like, from knowing that the probability of that car with so little miles on the clock is very suspect.

I said I base my assumptions in my own knowledge, I didn't say they were fact.

To me it'd be like looking out at a grey sky and knowing to bring an umbrella.

You were the guy who not so long ago actually thought that every car we linked it here was a Peter perfect car just from looking at the ad. Obviously no assumptions there.

Anywho, enough of that, we can discuss our assumptions through pm if you like.
    Back to the bangers

Knowledge of what? I think everyone would be cautious with the amount of clocked cars out there at the moment, it just doesn't mean you can just say/assume indefinitely that it is clocked.

Did I think that every car here was perfect? I must have missed that...

Wonder why he wouldn't put it through the NCT and increase the value substantially?

    Because it's wonked....

Too expensive. NCT was done nearly 18 months ago, bit of a risk there too. Nice car though. I considered one last year, but they were far too expensive back then. They're coming down nicely though. Soon decent ones should be had for a little over 1k :)

Good thing about these cars is plenty of poke (5 cylinders petrol turbo, 180BHP) for the (only 2l) tax

No one is gonna pay anywhere near that, unless there's a fresh test :)

Yeah, you're probably right. I really only posted it to get the thread back to banger chat and away from the clocked cars chat above
