"One change made from is that The Philander timetable says pool tournament at 4PM Monday. We decided that last thing you want on your first day of college is sit inside playing pool, so instead we are teaming up with Horse Racing Soc to bring you massive event for the first day of your new life. We will be announcing details shortly!"

I'm loving all the free food most societies will be giving us! I'll save loads of money and just eat their food :D

I'm gonna go ahead and assume no ones going to that "The Successful Student" talk on the Monday at 1 then? I'm thinking free food will be way more useful :D So lemme know if I've got it right, we're meeting up at 1/a bit before 1 to get the free munch off the socs for lunch, then at 4 somewhere to get some coffee to keep us going?

Do you have to be 18 to get the wristbands? It says "ID will be required to collect it"...so if you're not 18 you have absolutely no hope of going out? Cause I have an id that should work for the clubs?

They're really strict about ID when collecting the bands :/ if you're still 17 try find someone who looks slightly like you and borrow their ID? Chances are you'll meet someone similar to you on the first day!

Ya but on the website where you can purchase the tickets, they say nothing about it being over 18...they just say you need ID..but it could be assumed that the ID is just to prove that you are who you said you were on buying the tickets? It's such bull****! And if I used my friends ID, would i not have to use their name when buying the ticket online?

So, this meet-up thing? Whos up for it, seems to be some really vague talk about it, and this group is the most mysterious looking thing I've ever seen... what time suits people? and the comedy debate thing after? argh this is stressful! :p

Ahhh I'm sure things will work themselves out over the next 5 days. No need to stress! :)

I don't have facebook, so how many are actually going?

If the plans stay the same, I'll be lingering around the Butterfly place at 4 o'clock Monday… and the Mariokarts at 1, obviously.

Oh, I don't think the wristband is worth it really (for me anyway). I'll probably not go to all the nights due to the suburb to city taxi expenses.

I thought it was the Buttery

Anyway yeah, I'm Claire, doing Law and French and living in Halls. Din't reeeally know many people and Monday's my birthday, should be...interesting :pac:

From what I've heard, it's the student I.D. they're referring to. You'll still need your age card/driver's licence to get into the clubs even if you have your wristband.

Joining the party late. I am fairly active on boards of late so I don't know how I missed the thread until now.

I'm Amy. *hi Amy* I'm doing engineering. I'm from Sligo and staying in Trinity Halls. (Thank god. It's so much less hassle and it's a great way to meet people.)
I'm really looking forward to Freshers' Weekend and Week. I bought my wristband online. I'm especially looking forward to the paint party, though I'll have to wear an outfit that I don't mind being utterly destroyed. :)

Yeah, that's probably the correct name. Sounds more plausible than… 'The Butterfly'. I was just guessing really :pac:

Ahhh! Now I'm confused. 9.50, campanile sounds good though.

What's the story with having to provide your religious beliefs in your registration? I just put down "church of what's happenin now cocksucka" and left it at that brehs.

I think it's just that they want to know so they can sent out material...I put down Church of Ireland and I get like quarterly updates from the chaplain.

Presumably if the Church of What's Happenin Now Cocksucka has a chaplain or an official representative in Trinity, then you'll get material in the post from them soon enough...

I don't know how I'm going to choose between the societies. Based on their line-up for the week, I'm definitely going for the Phil over the Hist. But I only plan to stick with one society and there are lots of others that I'd love to join. Engineering, Sci-fi, Literature, Entrepeneurial, Horse-racing, Classical, Metaphyscial and Trinity FM being the main ones at the moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 492 ✭✭UnholyGregor

you know, you could join the phil AND the hist? i mean, they both have such a great lineup of speakers, it would suck to rule one out. :/
