When you take four cuts of silage what length of time do you leave between cuts? Do you find you get extra grass versus a two cut system?

This fella Stan, must have a retractable roof over the whole farm! The wife must be delighted with him, and she able to get tha washing dry between half ten and two clock any day of the year! -;)

4-6weeks. slightly more yield as ground takes less time to recover- higher quality hopefully

its good but you would not want the calves to get too big in the hips as they wont fit.

Agitating last night and the foam came up above the height of the cubicle stand. It was very gassy. You'd get light headed just looking in over the feed barrier. Never seen it as bad - never had a tank of slurry left so late either I suppose!

I remember a few years back when I was on my farm placement the same thing happened and the slats started floating, never seen anything like it before or since.

finishing up wholecrop today, straw still incredibly green, its under sown with grass so will see how it comes. May direct drill in another 5kgs per acre of seed

Pedigree beef shorthorn bull I had finishing that I just sold to a guy for breeding. The thrive this bunch of shorthorns have done since they came would match any breed. they have kicked the crap out of a few continentals that came the same day.

do you need photobucket or something to just show pics on the page instead of having to open up a new link?

    ?

grass looks plenty thick to me. a drop of CAN now and a lash of slurry in the spring and it'll be a nice stand.

I'm just a little concerned on the actual type of grass in the sward. I thinking there is a high proportion of annual grasses so I will pop in more ryegrass to up the ante. Will give it 4k/ac gallons of slurry to wake it up

Your breeding research is paying dividends limo100. Nice calves there. It will be good to see them in a few months and I bet that Panda calf will be as good as any humongous newborn calf. I think too much emphasis is paid on how they look in the first few days of life. A great big lump of a calf doesn't necessarily equate to the best animal at slaughter.
