Bumper off, new headlight on, bumper repaired and a set of twin horns installed...not bad for a few hours work and total cost of 100 compared to the 1100 quoted after her little accident a month or so back!

What happened that bonnet or dare i ask?! lol

The day after I got the car running, the catch failed and let the bonnet fly open at 40mph, smashing the screen and destroying the bonnet. You can see in that pic where I straightened it as much as I could, but it was temporary. New bonnet was the only way foreward...

The Resin Polish + Wax makes the silver look really great tbh.

Car looks well alan, have you considered pressed metal plates?

I think it would enhance the front.

That's on my list...just opened up Eireplates there to order some pressed steel plates. Just normal font, none of this german lark! Eh...how does one go about getting 2 holes drilled into them? I guess I could do it myself...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,930 ✭✭✭✭challengemaster

holes?! Get some double sided tape!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,920 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

I would also go with the tape Alan, they are very light so the tape would be perfect.

    I would use a drill myself:p
You can use your old plates as a template for the holes so you wont have to drill more holes in your bumper. good double sided tape is good. No ugly screw heads in your new plates!!

Front plate is crooked as feck! Right, I'll drill them myself so! Not so sure about the double sided tape, would hate to have them fall off!

That tape is good for plastic plates but I don't know how well it would be with metal plates, especially when the weather gets cold.

I find the metal ones are normally lighter then the plastic ones.

Buy the fixing kit from eireplates for 3€. Have both mine and gfs German plates stuck on for over a year and no problems at all. They're amazing sticky pads

Mine are welded on with tape. As were the previous nordie plates. Took forever to pull those off with a lot of effort. Not a chance they'd just fall off. I'd probably rip off the bumper before the plate :pac:

What I've also recently seen used is silicone.... also worked surprisingly well.
