A man in a hat went into a hotel, took his hat off and walked hatlessly up to the frontdesk.

    Just GENIUS

Read the original there, funny enough but definitely an element of "you had to be there" about it.

You just wish you were there. To have been had sex with.

Following Trent from day one, he is epic. Favourite quote:
SKRRK! SKRRK! SKRRK! Trent could well remember that noise from the time he was in the army. "I can well remember that noise from the time I was in the army" Trent thought. No time for thinking, he thought.

That is genius, don't care what anyone else thinks.

Very nearly stuccoed the monitor with breakfast cereal. Cheers for that!

"Peeeow!" peeowed Trent making a noise like a gun shooting. "Peeow " to you too said the shopkeeper.
BANG! Trent shot the man dead! He fell on the floor like some shopping that hadn't been doubly bagged but there was heavy shopping in the bag, so the bag ripped.

Amazing stuff, has anyone bought the film rights yet?

If you don't appreciate Monty Python then you probably won't like Trent.

I can only imagine how confusing Trent must be to a non-English speaker.

Reading over the original thread now. I especially love the insights into his genius.
there was either an animal or perhaps the enemy and they made the SKRRK! noise and so Trent is naturally afraid of it. I don't really know what makes a SKRRK! noise though. Someone sharpening a knife perhaps. Much more dificult to write those joiny bits in between the action.

So true, so true. Those annoying joiny bits!

Thanks you, thank you so much for introducing me to the world of Trent. My life has become so much richer in the past twenty minutes, literature will never be the same again!

I'm sorry to rain on the parade but that new trent is just not...Trent.

Far too literate, self aware, the textual substance is just too coherent to be from the same writer as the classic we all knew and loved.

I'm sorry but this is like what George Lucas did to Star wars.

Go away padraigg and leave us with our dreams.

    Guess who's back, back again,
Trent is back, (with) a friend,
Guess who's back, guess who's back?
    ad infinitum

Trent is the reason I gave up any aspirations of writing. I'll never put together pieces as badly good writing as that. Fantastic stuff and I still have some of the audio chapters knocking around too...

Ah yes the audiobook I remember having that! I'm rereading the entire Trent saga good times
"Room service!" shouted Trent as he flew through the air. The man's neck broke instantly as Trent got him and his face was dead but had a smile on it! It was because he owned a chain of hotels and because of what Trent said in the air!

I love the way he used peeeow as a verb there.

    Highly enjoyable reading.
