He said early on that he might be back on Tuesday

And yet he just said,"I am too busy to come back in September"

He doesn't seem to be in touch with what's happening in his own life, never mind the lives of the people paying to get a repetitive reading he gave to someone else!

Great, he just told a married woman that she would find new love. Fantastic. Especially since she sounded worried when she originally asked about her marriage.

    Yes, yes she was.

I reckon the producer is calling regulars (ones registered on the site maybe) to make the show sound busy.

Come on Paul, it's your time of night now!

Haven't heard Mary in a while, perhaps her phone got cut off lol

Or her house might have burned down, her moneybag and mobile phone were engulfed and Mary has taken to the bottle or is not well atm.
    In my opinion.:)

That's what they want you to think.

The rules are really in place to hinder the psychics from helping people, because the corporate machine that is the BAI wants to keep the people downtrodden so that they keep watching Midday and listening to Joe Duffy.

Flathan is a brave crusader trying to battle these evil forces.

    In my opinion.

There is no way that Flatman is gone for good. He's had more retirements than the public sector before budget cuts.

    It has two main demographics:

    1. Lonely, often elderly, people who are clearly lonely and who are willing to spend exhorbitant amounts of money to talk to the host, who tries to act as if he/she is their only friend. (This is especially true in the case of Sam Ryan and Flathan, with Sam's constant talk of "Sure you're up anyway, why not give me a call and keep me company and we can have a chat?" and Flathan's "Do you need guidance? Does no one understand you? Why not call me and get your three answers?".

    2. Desperate people from all age groups, either worried about their health, finances or relationships (either because they've been single for a long time or because they're currently having difficulties), which the show is only too happy to exploit by giving 95% positive answers, with the occasional negative response to (I suspect) placate people on this thread who've noticed they give 95% positive answers.

EDIT: Of course, all of this is in my humble opinion.

Oh right, sounds a bit depressing actually. Is there a significant amount of trolling that goes on, thus making it bearable to watch or is the main viewership comprised of sadists? (honestly no offense intended)

Trolling is at a minimum really. They've implemented a very effective troll filter on most nights, where callers are only allowed to say their name and are then muted as the reading is given. Occasionally one will slip through (or two or three like last night :pac:) which can be quite entertaining.

I assume by sadists you're referring to people on the thread who watch every night (and if this is the case, I know you don't mean any offense :)). Speaking for myself, part of what makes the show fun to watch is the fact that there are others watching it with the same intent (i.e. getting it removed). Watching it and taking the absolute piss out of it is fun enough for me.

It's a bit like the LLS threads. Last April/May I would specifically watch the LLS to have a laugh in the threads, since I was doing nothing else anyway.

If that makes me a sadist or a mad-man, then so be it. :pac: :pac:

There does be trolling from time to time but less these days as they have brought in a 15 second delay to stop trolls. There were a good few in the early days.

Sadism is probably too extreme a term really then. Would I be right in thinking that the humour has more to do with the shocking stupidity of callers than with their misfortune so?

Not sure if I read your post correctly, but just to play devil's advocate here, what part of 'higher ratings' would get the show removed?
