Are you insane? Getting rid of Carroll and Henderson is absolutely the right thing to do. They were utter failures last season and the new management don't appear to rate them at all.

Don't get your knickers in a twist. This moves would not be happening if replacements weren't already nailed on, e.g., Dempsey.

How can you say Henderson is a utter failure when he was played out of his natural position?

You do realise that if operation Rodgers fails they we are absolutely fúcked .

If Henderson was not a LFC player he is the type of player BR would be interested in, he has only spent one year at the club and in that time has shown some great glimpse of promise playing in a position that does not define him, he should be kept as he will become a fantastic player in years to come.

Dempsey will do diddly **** for us. apart from sell jerseys in the states.

As widely reported Walcott aint going nowhere fast.

You and me must have been watching a different player last season because all I saw was a player who went missing in 90+% of games. Sure, he has some good ability, but ultimately not good enough for a top team IMO.

Dempsey was a star performer in the league last season and Mr Consistency. Jesus Christ, it's hardly rocket science is it?!

And what is the closing of the transfer window going to do to reverse the retarded decision to go out on a limb to swap Henderson for Dempsey, and the unsettling that is going to do ?

Assuming he was offered, it may have been a loan deal to get him some games. He looks to be 5th or even 6h choice CM after Allen, Sahin, Lucas, Gerrard and now Shelvey. He won't make 20 stats this season, that's not ideal for his age...

Wouldn't be so bad if Hendo went to them on loan for the year, after getting first team football last year to not having any this year would have to be considered regression.

Anyway, I was quite looking forward to posting here today, deadline day can be exciting... but... I think it'll resemble the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan by lunch. Might be an idea to watch the glossy version on SSN. :o

One poor season in a team with zero confidence? These are two kids in their early 20s ffs.

Henderson was offered in a swap+cash not a loan .

please stop trying to make it less retarded by suggesting it was a loan

So was Downing for villa before we signed him, it means nothing, some players are stars in small teams and not able to take that step up, if dempsey was a pure class A player he would have made it by now. to a champions league grade team.

Jordan Henderson is worth no more than £8M.

I honestly thought he was a good buy, and I was always in favour of him being picked in the team. He has decent ability, good control, good passer. But doesnt ever seem to take a game by the scruff of the neck.

His problem at LFC is that Jonjo Shelvey has passed him out in the midfield pecking order. Which is the best way of putting a value on him.

I'm not particularly in favour of selling Henderson, but if that was the only way we could afford Dempsey, and the manager really wants Dempsey, then so be it.

As others have probably said, i feel sorry for carroll, he never wanted to leave newcastle and now he has ended up at west ham, it wasnt his fault we paid £35m, kenny obviously earmarked him as his required replacement for torres (obviously looking for a shearer sutton esq player) and newcastle played us as hard as they could.

that said i admire rodgers sticking to his guns, carroll would have become a problem for him had he stayed, cant leave him out all the time yet doesnt fit into how he wants his team to play, plus the likes of carragher and enrique tend to go long to him when plays further exacerbating the issues.

He will live or die by this decision, but admire his balls in making it.

That said we need something to happen today, we are looking a little toothless, henderson trade for dempesy is incomprehensible.

Sell adam, spearing etc but give henderson a season at least.

*fingers crossed* please not Sturridge, a pretty uninspiring move in my view.

in fairness despite some rough edges, Jonjo is a good player esp for a 20 year old. never hides.

@TonyBarretTimes Could it have been a loan offer Tony?

    Tony Barrett‏@TonyBarretTimes
@mikejgirling Straight swap for Dempsey mate. Desperate times and all that.......

I don't understand why we wouldn't try and sell him outright rather than offer this silly swap deal.

    Opr

dempsey and sturridge in and adam out would be a decent day IMO,

at least we have goal threat options

I think i honestly prefer Adam to Henderson,

Hes what 6th in lie for CM? and we paid 13-16M for him, never understand why he seems ot get a free pass off a number of supporters.

    If Hodge had bought him.......

I know what you're saying but LFC first team is a pressure cooker, not a creche. If the manager doesn't get results he will get the chop.

I think Sturridge would be a good signing. He was hugely impressive when on loan at Bolton and Rodgers could get the best out of him. On his day, he is quite sepecial.

It appeared at the start of the summer that the new manager might just bring in 2/3 and sell 2/3. It's now turned into a major overhaul of the whole squad at this stage.

We have to give him credit for being brave in what he's doing. Well all agree that lfc had overspent on alot of average players. The only issue is that we are not replacing these players with top quality players. It appears as though we are looking for bargins / loans. I think Sahin and Borini will turn out to be clever pieces of business. Super to see the likes of Sterling and Morgan getting involved too.

If we end up bringing in Dempsey and A.N Other today (Sturridge most likely I'd say) then I'd be happy with that. We'll just have to be patient and give it time to settle down but I'm hopeful.

Absolutely, and the rough edges means he'll have some bad games too. He might go 4/10, 8/10, 6/10, 9/10 - but overall we should see an improvement in consistency throughout the season.

Jordan is 6/10 nearly every game, with the very occasional 7/10 and 5/10. He may improve, but he mightnt either.

Not really,. expectations are not that high, who really expects us to get beyond 5th this year?

Henderson is crap, and crap that we grossly over paid for. If we can recoup any of that value then go for it. In a couple of years he will be worth 5/6m at best.

I don't know how guys are defending him, he goes missing in every game he plays, including last nights game where you'd think he would come out and show the manager he is worth keeping.

Same thing since we needed the money for Dempsey. We don't have time to start hawking him around the league...

Fair fúcks to Rogers for clearing out all the deadwood, still some more to go, but at least with some of these gone it opens the way for the introduction of possible new players or the promotion of youth players.

This is baffling news. I don't understand why we are trying to sell Henderson when we only loaned out Spearing!

Surely in the system Rodgers is implementing, Henderson is a better fit!

I know last seasons transfers were shocking but this is getting ridiculous.
