It seems most people would be against Sturridge joining, I'm in the minority who thinks he could pleasantly surprise us especially if played up front in the middle where his selfishness might actually be an asset.

disappointed Rodgers never gave carroll a chance, in his short game time he has shown more than borini this year.

We HAVE to bring in a top class CF now or letting carroll go now will be worse business than paying 35m for him in the first place. We also need a wing forward so hopefully we finally see that player that will excite the fans than rodgers spoke about weeks ago.

Am glad I am at a wedding today so will be on the beer and wont have to go through the pain as we bring in luke moore and leroy lita!

I wonder how much of that Henderson story was fed to the media to make clubs aware we're open to letting him go. Wouldn't be surprised to see him sold outright today.

I would. Are you being serious? A few of the players that Rodgers talked up are Henderson, Downing, Skrtel, Agger and Suarez. They are all safe I think. He wasn't so supportive of Adam, Carroll or Cole. They are all being pushed out.

    I don't see Hendo going.

Bascombe, Barret and this morning The Liverpool Echo are all reporting we offered the swap deal?

It's not the losing Carroll exactly that I'm worried with, it's the non existance of a goalscorer in the squad which is essentially your 2nd point.

Personally I'd have liked to see Carroll get a chance under Rodgers but fans are split on that and no point having that argument again. I think he'll do well at the Hammers.

Anyway, we need two forwards in today or we're in trouble.

Also, we can't lose any more players, especially our top ones.

Exactly, Rodgers seemed to rule him out very quickly. And if he has someone in mind lined up to replace him, then fair enough. Andy's still very young, and I have no doubt whatsover that he has matured signifcantly as a person over the last 12 months. Also he did show some form at the end of last season and for England, and he seemed to start pre-season which a huge determination to do well.

I would have loved to see just one competitive game (say one of our Euro qualfiers v Gomel or Hearts) where Andy got a start in the front 3, with Suarez on one side of him and Borini on the other - just to see what would have happened.

He has? When was that now? Borini scored against Gomel and has had a number of other close calls, thanks to hard work and good movement. What has Carroll done, albeit with little game time?

Its funny some peoples reaction to Carroll leaving.....its like we lost Torres again......the guy is one of the biggest big money flops of EPL history, dress it up what ever way you want....he was terrible for us overall....he wont fit with how we play, the manager doesnt want him etc etc

What i do agree with though is he needs to be replaced properly, if a top quality striker isn't acquired Rodgers will be very very sorry IMO (by top quality i dont mean Daniel Sturridge......)

Carroll never wanted to leave Newcastle. When he went back there and got booed he was a new man after it. The last 6-8 weeks of last season he turned a corner and in a few games even got standing ovations for parts of his play. I dont know, maybe you watched none of that, but he had plenty left to give and had just started showing it. Another season under the man who wanted these players and we could have seen these lads really settle into the club.

Instead, we have inexperienced owners making football decisions, giving an inexperienced manager full control of LFC. And a man doing deals on our behalf who is well out of his depth.

By all means enjoy Carroll leaving, but you havent seen whats coming, maybe by the end of today you could be wishing him back at the club.

And what is the closing of the transfer window going to do to reverse the retarded decision to go out on a limb to swap Henderson for Dempsey, and the unsettling that is going to do ?

Interesting times at anfield, i am glad carroll got a move away but does this make BR a madman? does it weaken his hand in future deals when he comes out to the media saying one thing but does another?another that makes us look weak and indecisive or does it matter?

we still have no midfield enforcer but in saying that JA has been magnificent so far and looks the real deal..fair play to BR.

A goal scorer is essential but doubt we have the money to buy a player that makes us top 4 potential rather than hoverers which i think we will be this year.

Cant figure out if the owners are just prudent and building a strong financial club structure or if they are just trying to gain as much in the short period with a view to selling for profit in a year or two.

carroll offered more in 10 minutes against city than borini did against city and west brom together

For everyone doubting whether the Henderson offer was made to Fulham. It 100% was but he turned the move down.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Henderson leave today then if Liverpool can find a buyer. Clearly not in his managers plans.

Ffs, this is akin to selling Alonso to get Barry in, although on a smaller scale obviously. Nah, i don't like that at all.

As Lloyd said last night, I just refuse to believe we could be that stupid. Hoping the story was just to make clubs aware we might to be open to selling him to see what kind of bids come in for him.

Edit - Oh Christ it looks like we're just that stupid. Un****ingbelievable!

To be fair, Suso was away with Spain a good bit recently I think. But the position he plays in, it's going to be harder to make the breakthrough. And Raheem has more unique gifts.

Maybe Suso's getting Adam or Spearing's number..

It was much earlier in the summer when Suso was away with Spain.

"Unique gifts" is open to interpretation and opinion. In terms of raw ball skills, Sterling is very good, but Suso is definitely even more talented. But Sterling has great pace, which is an enormous asset.

Regarding his number, the picture on the website of Yesil in a number 30 training top was the first Suso had heard about anyone taking his number. Which was why he was upset on twitter. Of course a training top number isn't categorical proof and maybe Suso shouldnt be on twitter, but that doesnt diminish the fact it was very poor handling of the situation by the club

Henderson wouldn't be missed at all.

I expect to see Dempsey come in today and one other signing (Walcott?).

Of all the players Kenny signed, Henderson is the one with the promise. i really hope its not true. Then the only player from that reign we held on to was Downing......... To play left back.

Ok going to work, not returning to this thread all day........ Yeah right

Swap Henderson for a 29 year old in his last year of his contract? WTF?
Loan deal maybe? Hopefully? That is madness!

If Henderson was not a LFC player he is the type of player BR would be interested in, he has only spent one year at the club and in that time has shown some great glimpse of promise playing in a position that does not define him, he should be kept as he will become a fantastic player in years to come.

Dempsey will do diddly **** for us. apart from sell jerseys in the states.

As widely reported Walcott aint going nowhere fast.

Selling Henderson would be idiotic tbh.
