Think there's a press conference this morning ? Nothing much to be revealed I would imagine.

The only teams that haven't been in for Bendtner are...

    Botswana Meat Commission FC
    Wankie FC
    Deportivo Wanka
    Man Machine

    All real teams BTW.:D

I'm open to correction here but you should still be able to get tickets on the ticket exchange closer to the game easily enough.

    doubt it.

Another way to look at that is Spurs let the transfer of Modric drag on all summer and are now in a hurry to do all their business days before the window slams shut.

You're pretty bang on there. Tbh, it's probably the only realistic way of looking at it. They could've been more pro-active, their manager was signed early enough in the summer. With the way AVB works, it'll probably take a bit of time for the new players to gel, so it's a bit of a tactical nightmare for the club.

Arsenal on the other hand, I don't know why people think it's an absolute disaster that the club hasn't signed another player yet! The only thing that's pissed me off is the fact that the club did not have a proper pre-season because of commercial interests!!! This is pretty much going to be the case from now on. With new sponsorship deals, come new endorsements and so on.

RE Berbatov, a brilliant player and one that showed commitment with Spurs and at times with Utd. He gets the work done, it's not a case of laziness but more tactical deployment on Fergie's part. We already have Giroud, who's shown much more physical promise than Berbatov. Goals will come, but I think people are clutching at straws when they think he's going to be a success with Arsenal. Every striker we've had in the past 15 has had to work for their goals. Look at Henry against Utd when he skinned 4-5 players. Wenger utilises a forward that does more work than your average forward. This is where I think Berbatov would lack but to play devil's advocate, we need a fox in the box for corners as last weekend showed and Berbatov would be ideal for this. But that's pretty much all.

Show more confidence in what we have and those happy vibes will come through the tv/pc and onto the squad, and then we'll have results!

Are any of you guys here a member of the Cork branch of the Arsenal supporters cub? As far as I know, they meet in the Joshua Tree and go to the occasional game? Just wondering if any of you's were members and if ye think its worth the outlay :p

Apologies if this is in the wrong place btw.

Jaysus, I think I remember seeing something a few years ago, but that was pretty much it. Didn't know they met at the Josh though, I thought that was a Utd/Liverpool bar, then again most pubs on Blarney Street are usually one of the two. I'd normally hit the Old Oak for a few games, usually red jerseys in there or else the local Hollyhilll Inn, although I'm normally the only Arsenal supporter there.

Just found this there if it's any help Dercola. I'd be interested in getting involved in this. We're pretty much a rarity in Cork

now the site works but stuck in a que. this is ****. why did i bother becoming a red member

There is always a que but you'll get there eventually
Didn't get to gp last season but any previous seasons I used to log on 10 or 15 minutes early. The wait in the que wasn't as long then. Don't know if you can still do that?

Crazy money when you think about it. It's only a league game after all.

Joel Campbell for Betis. I think he's going to improve a lot this year. He's always looking to provide and works hard. If he can improve his pace on the ball for beating players, we could have an extremely versatile forward in our squad. Betis is an ideal squad for him also, a lot more responsibility in attacking, providing defensive coverage and it's not a team that will get hammered week in and week out so it shouldn't affect his form/confidence.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how our loanees are looking next year when they return. I don't think I remember seeing so much potential out on loan all at once (Denilson being excluded of course).

Until we offload players like Bendtner, Park, Squillaci and Arshavin we won't be seeing any new players come in, as id say were in around the limit of non homegrown players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,783 ✭✭✭emergingstar

If we don't sell we won't buy I reckon it's gonna be one out one in scenario

Official: Juventus have agreed terms with Bendtner (the hardest part) and will now discuss a fee (loan or perm) with the Gunners.

I'd be quite happy to see Berbatov come in, he's a proven goal scorer and would be a much better option than our other back up strikers. The only reason he hasn't been putting them away for united for the last while is they haven't been playing him.

What back up strikers you on about it looks like we don't have any :)

If Chamakh, Bendy Boots and Park do go there has to be another striker coming in the opposite direction. We can't play the full season with only two strikers.

    Has to?
We played all of last season with one striker, i know he was world class, but it's the Wenger way i'm hinting at.
I hope he does get one, but it's looking unlikely.

Top man, thanks for that reply!
It was my dads mate that told me about the Joshua Tree. I think its something like €20 to join, but you are guaranteed tickets for a couple of matches each season. So I presume it must be official. Anyway, I'm definitely considering joining because as you said, us gunner folk aren't really common place down here :p

Cheers for the link! I'll get my pops to ring his mate and try to get more info.

I read somewhere this morning that the reason we haven't bought yet, is because we have to have a minimum of 8 home grown player in the squad. I don't know, because I haven't counted, but apparently we currently have 17 non home grown players in our 25 man squad. So therefor, we have to sell before we buy..

To be honest, I'd be happy if come tomorrow night we'd have sold the above 3 and brought in Dempsey and a utility defender.
