If it's true I wonder who gave in. £75,000 to £100,000 is a good jump/drop.

The bolded above is key because I havent seen any confirmation of it on any news site. A link would be nice.

I sincerely hope we havent given Theo 100k p/w, he is a squad rotation player at best and not worth those wages.

Id prefer to sell him to the Pool or City than pay him that much.

    Champions League draw: I want...

    Arsenal
    Olympiacos
    Nordsjaelland
    BATE Borisov

    Can that happen?

Nope but this would be a good draw to get

    Arsenal
    Sporting Braga
    Olympiacos
    Cluj or Bate .

Of course he could come good, I just don't understand why someone wouldn't want Berbatov given how we're going to be playing most of our games.

Knowing our luck with draws we'll get Shakhtar, Juventus and Dortmund.

I'm just really 'meh' on Theo - 'meh' if he goes and 'meh' if he stays.

He can be really good if he's setting up someone like RVP or getting the ball in the right position from someone like Fabregas - but then so could I probably.

Thats United's group buddy. We'll get another tough one.

I honestly think Walcott was chancing his arm to see if City wanted him. He's a decent player, used to link up well with RVP. A big season ahead for him.

I supppose if we prepare for no more incomings, the disappointment will be less than if we had been expecting some.

Genuine question, are we pehaps the worst club in the league at transfer business? The Walcott situation aside, yet again this year we've left ourselves with a fair bit to do one day before the window closes. Pains me to say it, but look at Spurs. Sell Modric, immediately bring in Dembele and start negotiations on Moutinho, then their CEO goes and tries to sign Remy. What is it with us that we dont set out to improve the side, merely to replace what we've lost? I have to admit, I'm getting pretty sick of it.

It looks like our summer will be seen as successful, merely because we're going to be in profit. What is the problem with actually having a net spend? We're not looking for massive funds to be spent. But there must be something there. Its so frustrating.

Just for once I'd like us to be proactive rather than reactive.

Another way to look at that is Spurs let the transfer of Modric drag on all summer and are now in a hurry to do all their business days before the window slams shut.

It's a shame, you would think the board don't want us to progress higher up the ladder.

I get what your saying but there is not much difference with us and spuds
They spent the modric money when he left. We spent the money from the sale of rvp before he left same thing really

What's frustrating is I feel we're closer this year, add two players we will close the gap on both Manchester clubs maybe not win it but sef close the gap

If we don't spend I think we will still be grand will be knocking about 4th again battling away

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,433 ✭✭✭wandatowell

I think the fact that the club has gone on a media lockdown may be a good sign, too busy signing the 3/4 players we need to mount a challange???

Nah probably not, promotion from within is the name of the game I would think

I'm open to correction here but you should still be able to get tickets on the ticket exchange closer to the game easily enough.
