Thanks. Roughly how long did HTC take to repair it? Going on holiday soon so don't want to send it off if its going to come back while I'm away.

Still away  They say 7 working day turnaround and factor in 2 days getting there and 2 days back.

In the same boat but with meteor...wireless is useless unless you slightly press the back then it jumps up full...as soon as you let go drops again.

Anyone know how long it would take to be sent off with meteor ?? will give them a buzz in the morning.

On three. Got in yesterday. Phone seems a bit quicker and smoother now or maybe I'm imagining it. ;). Hopefully no more of that hanging loading screen I used to get occasionally. Tab button is cool too.

Hi, Can you try and plug in a set of headphones and listen to some music/radio/youtube? Since the upgrade, my phone is not registering that i have headphones plugged in!

just tried mine (one x on meteor) and the headphone icon is still showing up after the update.

having said that though, it seems that USB mode is stuck in "charge only" and i can't get it to go into disk mode or tether. :(

has anyone else got one of these charging cases for their HOX?

    2200mAh_External_Backup_Battery_Charger_Case_Cover.jpg

i got mine from this ebay seller: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/200775459994?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

it's actually very handy. i'm finding that the primary way i'm using it isn't (directly) for the intended purpose though.

it gives approx. 50% charge, so it's not a full charge, but it gives you a decent boost.

most of the time i charge the power bank up without the phone in it and then use that to charge the phone so i can have the power bank next to a power socket, but still use the phone in another room and then just connect the power bank to the phone when the phone battery starts getting really low.

i'd expected to use it to charge the phone on the go when i was away from a power socket for long periods, but it seems to be the exception rather than the rule. :)

Guys I have seen a serious drop in my battery performance lately, for no apparent reason. A few weeks ago it just seemed to be suddenly rubbish, it was ok for a while and now I just looked at my phone and its down to 13% after 8 hours use. Usually it would be at about 70% by this stage. I've been doing a bit of texting and one 15 min phone call but thats it.

    Image: https://www.dropbox.com/s/luu7kt4lnf13jdj/2012-08-29%2015.20.15.png

Any idea what I can do about this?

dropped my HOX at lunchtime today and i just noticed that i've cracked the screen. :(

it's only on the edge and it's not all that visible as it barely even reaches the edge of the screen from the bezel), but still. :(

I sent my One X to HTC twice in the last few months. First time was for the wifi issue and I was without the phone for about 3 weeks. The repaired unit developed the fault again and was returned a second time for replacement, that took about 2 weeks. The replacement arrived today and the microphone is not working.

Options are to send it back to HTC again or return it to the shop. I'm returning it to the shop and hope to change it for a different make and model. Disappointed as I love the phone but enough is enough.

I got that one and barely use it.

The kickstand on it is terrible, and I find it gets very hot when charging the phone.

i don't use the kickstand, but it gets pretty warm when charging from the mains too, so i haven't been bothered by the warmth of it.

Yeah, I was using it to top up the phone in work with it in my pocket. Not good!

Haven't noticed it getting overly warm when charging from the mains mind you.

Bought a One X recently, discovered it had the wifi hardware fault, anyone had any luck fixing it themselves? Looks a pretty simple fix to those handy with a soldering gun

Ive no warranty so tempted to give it a go.

Have you seen the wifi repair guides on the xda thread? Plenty of users have fixed it themselves and documented the steps taken. Before you start it might be worth checking those out for tips or in case there is anything not covered in the video you posted. Mine is still under warranty so not risking it. Good luck with the fix.

i assume the wireless issue is just poor range/performance on wifi connections?

i have a really bad wireless signal with both my one x and my wife's one s that we got a few months ago.

even in the next room to my router i can hardly get a signal.

how long could i expect it to take to get them fixed? don't fancy being without the phones for too long over a manufacturing fault that shouldn't have existed in the first place.

I've had problems where sometimes I'm just totally unabel to connect to some wireless networks, kicks me off after a few seconds. Other laptops and phones etc connect fine. Anyone had this?

It is the connection between the antenna on the polycarbonate body and the wifi (& bluetooth) chip that is at fault.

You can test by gently squeezing the phone anywhere between the volume button and the top of the phone. If you see the wifi signal improving dramatically it is likely this is the cause. There is a huge thread on XDA forum here

The free Wifi analyser app is very handy for checking wifi signal strength.

yep, goes from jut the dot at the bottom of the wifi strength icon to one line below full strength when i squeeze it a little at the top right of the screen. :(

i'll check the wife's one s tonight when she gets home, but i suspect it's the same thing as well. :(

thanks for the tip anyway, now to find out what i need to do to get it fixed (in warranty).

I'm having the exact same problem. The phone was brought from a Three store in April so I assume it's under warranty. I'm reading stories of people being told by Fonemenders it will take approx 1 month to fix a One X though. I don't think I want to be without the phone for a month, especially as they don't seem to offer loaners in the meantime!

Sorry to hear that. It is extremely frustrating and it shouldn't happen on a flagship device. Thankfully these phones are covered by a two year manufacturer warranty.

If its any help I returned my handset to the Meteor shop initially but it was 6 weeks after purchase so it fell outside their 28 day return period. Depending on where you bought it the policy might be different.

Meteor offered to send it to HTC on my behalf but I contacted HTC myself and they sent a courier to pick it up. Took about three weeks to get it back the first time.

Hope you get it sorted ok. Good luck.

I bought mine in April so it would have been one of the first batches. HTC released a statement saying they were aware of an issue with a limited number of handsets so presumably the later ones have been fixed.

About the WiFi, I was all set to get a One S from eMobile a few weeks ago, but was told that all of their stock had been recalled pending a "connection issue" fix from HTC, which they'd had multiple complaints about. Thought this was just bluster from the sales guys in the shop, or that they'd sold out, but I got the same response over the phone from them. It seemed like a legitimate issue to me. They mentioned that the One X was fine though, which doesn't square with the posts here.

Eventually got a One V instead, no WiFi issues that I've noticed (though I'd be a light user).

I think it's the opposite, one X has problem but the S shouldn't at all as it's not manufactured the same way.

Ok lads I think I want to root my phone.. I just want to be able to customize it whatever way I want.

    2 Questions -
    How do I do it?
    Will I lose any data?

Yeah my X plays up a bit on Wifi, signal can come and go if I'm bit of a distance away (although I dont think its the connection issue where pressing the top right of the phone fixes connection). More so its that it'll just stop working, Wifi goes completely, then returns seconds later and works fine.

Has anyone sent away their X to fix the Wifi issue?

1: check out this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1577671

2: Yes you will lose all data. The "rooting" doesn't cause all data to be lost. Its the unlocking your bootloader using htcdev.com that will cause all data to be lost. Backup your SD card to your PC before doing the unlock. you also might want to backup SMS messages using SMS Backup and Restore. There may be other stuff you want to backup also.
