He wasnt easily beaten for the first city goal. He was against Tevez who was too strong for him, Tevez would be too strong for most wingers in a situation like that. He conceded 2 free kicks that i remember, one against Balotelli and one against Kolo Toure, neither of which should have been free kicks.

He was late getting back and then Tevez simply went by him. Here's a clip of it, I don't think Tevez had any difficulty is going past him.

I fail to see how the first goal was soft on the part of Reina so i presumed you were saying the 2nd goal was his fault.

If he's coming for that we should know about it in Dublin. You know this too.

I do & Reina being the loud mouth he is means I'm in very little doubt that Skrtel was at fault for the goal & likely got the touch despite Reina's call.

I think Skrtel is going to miss Steve Clarke's influence. Clarke's arrival really coincided with an increase with Skrtel's performances in my opinion.

    Similar to Reina and Valero.

Like i said, Tevez would muscle most players out of the way in a situation like that, never mind a waif like Sterling.

God there is a different level of intelligence in this thread compared to must football threads.

    refuting strawmen arguments etc.

I also hope Sahin enjoyed that sitting in the stands and wants to be part of it for years to come.

Was impressed by Allen the most today, he more than covered for Lucas and gave some quality balls too. Almost Xabi Alonso-esque in the way he sat deep and competently stroked the ball about.

As for Lucas, what a disaster. Again, his injury has illustrated that we have no real back up for him, and that has been evident for two seasons...and that, my friends, is a ****ing disgrace.

Tom could do with a few pointers from John about how to woo the ladies.

    Was that from today's match?

I'm sure he did, chalk and cheese to what he would have been watching if he was in the stands at stoke today.

Agger is staying, great. And rogers hopes to bring more in which is hopfuly a strikers. I reckon adam is a gonner, spearing will go in some shape or form and hopefully Cole will go too.

I'll sleep a happy man tonight anyways and hopefully will be an interesting week re. Transfers

We have Allen who can play that deeper role?

Allen could cover for Lucas, if Sahin is in the team, short term.

Aye, but Allen wasn't signed to be Lucas' back up, that's all I'm saying.

In fairness shelvey was good when he came on even though his tackling is pretty bad. I'm aware shelvey isint a replacement but Sahin/gerrard/alan/lucas will all be rotated.

Also club suits are hella slick

I think we could have put Man City to the sword today if we had a quality striker.

Really pleased by the performance from the players.

The sound is really poor - what did he say to him at the end?

Oh, and I think Allen proved today why he was a worthy signing and not "just another Henderson". I'd say the anti-Rodgers brigade are quite sick at that reality.

"Sterling, you know what you said. When I said that you said steady.. you said steady" is what I think he's saying.

Was really impressed with what I saw from Liverpool today, I didn't see anything of the WBA game so i don't really know what went so wrong in that game. They were uninspiring against Hearts from what I saw midweek, but that was obviously a total different line-up.

I was really impressed with the system. The work rate when they didn't have the ball created numerous chances and on another day may have led to more goals. The composure and decision making when they did have the ball for the most part was excellent too. It was a real team effort, something the likes of Suarez and Gerrard are going to find it difficult to fully adapt to. Nice to see the three defenders coming off shoulder to shoulder at half time talking tactics one would imagine.

In terms of decision making you can see why Skrtel did what he did when he was in that position, it has been drilled into them the importance of having possession of the ball, however it has its obvious problems if you are going to play a blind pass like that rather than kick it out for a throw for example.

What I think is lacking is a clinical striker and I'd imagine that is what Rodgers is hopefully trying to address before the window shuts. The type of player Liverpool have always had a history of having in the past. I think this type of player would work well, with Suarez and Borini playing as inside forwards. I don't think either of them are suited to be playing a central role.

You can see why Carroll is not the ideal player for the central role, but I think it would be unfair to totally shaft him out of a chance of at least working towards it. He will have his uses if he does end up staying at Liverpool. You can also see how the likes of Adam and Cole will not get much of a look in.

Will be very interesting to see who comes in before the window shuts, the addition of that clinical type striker will provide a real call for optimism this season.

"Sterling, you know what you said, you said 'steady'".

Backchat during a lecture on improving your attitude is a bit stupid though.

Sounds like the dressing down we used to get as kids for back chat to our manager. Come to think of it we were about Sterling's age!

P.s I thought Shelvey was great today after the stinker that he had against Hearts, impressive to bounce back like that.

When i see Lucas at around 3:27 on the treadmill and the 'go go go go' being shouted at him, i have to admit....It got a little dusty in here.
