I'm very happy, we gifted them 2 goals but theres too many positives so I'm not pissed off or anything with the result. Full sure we can beat arsenal next weekend if we perform like that.
It's a breath of fresh air to a young team go out and play like that today.

Was a great goal from Skrtel. Not intending to p1ss on anyone's chips but yet again Skrtel's awareness and sometimes his concentration costs him and us. He plays so well today and then does something you would crucify an u-16 for if they did it. Its not just these past 2 games either.

Lots of good performances but glaring for me at times when you have nobody to lead the line. City picked up far too much possession in first half hour. It takes super human effort to keep that work rate up for a season that we had in the last hour. If we are gonna play like that for a season we need another striker, end of, Suarez and Borini cant do that twice a week for a season and i dont see how Rodgers can play that type of game without another option up there.

Giving away soft goals is becoming too much of a trend for my liking. Reina was good old Reina of the last couple of years for the first. Super annoying.

Great performance on the whole but it is blatantly obvious that we need a proper striker up top.

Midfield options of Lucas, Gerrard, Sahin, Allen, Shelvey & Henderson is really great.

    Don't forget Adam :pac::pac:

What was bad about his all-round game? He hardly ever gave away possession. Held his width and always looked for the ball. He worked really hard without it. For a 17 year old to show the kind of courage he did in such a big game today was incredible. I'll say also that I think compared to most people his all-round game is fantastic in that set-up as while some of the other players are getting used to the Rodgers system that kid has played like that in the same system since he was 15. He always looks like he knows what he should be doing. Borini worked hard but he offered none of Sterling's threat with the ball.

For all his skill and flash I don't think he creates many chances. He's not great defensively. He was slow to get back for the first city goal an then he was easily beaten. He was beaten a few times in those situation or else conceded a few freekicks. He also fades drastically at about 60 minutes. Huge potential and already a great squad player but he's not first choice for me ahead Borini. Borini I think provides more threat in terms of creating chances, in terms of being to switch with Suarez and lead the attack, in being able to play off the shoulder of the defender and his movement.

It should be said Pepe didn't just flap at the goal. He had quite a few moments in the game that were not great.

It's a big issue at this stage tbh. He's not solid back there.

Skrtel took the ball off Reinas glove for the first.

He did nothing wrong for the goal Llyod.

I think you're being too harsh on him.

Gutted with that result, really should have been 3 points.

However, the performance was decent bar defending.

So frustrating to dominate a match and only draw. Same thing happened v city last season.

i was there and roaring my head off last season, felt once again that we were pick-pocketed

Just off the top of my head Borini has missed two guilt edged chances both created by Sterling in the last two games. The one against Hearts when Sterling nicked the ball and squared it and the one today when Sterling crossed it and Borini should have scored.

His defensive game in terms of the system I thought was great. He knew exactly when he should be pressing and when he should have been dropping into the bank of four. Compared to someone like Suarez who has huge work rate which looks good but he annoys me by expending massive amounts of energy by mindlessly chasing the ball when we're not pressing as a team.

I'm not saying I think he should be first choice in the front three but I think it's extremely harsh to be criticising him in anyway after the game he had today.

There was a time where he simply doesn't concede that goal. He frequently fails to take charge of those situations these days.

I wouldn't be too critical of Skrtel. Yeah, he messed up for the goal today and the penalty last week, but he's been asked to play different as are all the other defenders and keeper.

They'll be playing it out from the back a lot this season rather than hitting it long and whilst Skrtel obviously should have looked up, this will all come more natural to himself and other as the season goes on. It's not an overnight job.

I think we're going to have to accept that we'll concede goals like that, now and again. Defenders are passing it around, including the keeper, in spreading it on the deck. I thought Skrtel had looked a bit lackadaisical prior to the goal. I wasn't surprised to see him caught out eventually. God alone knows exactly what mishaps await Carragher this season.

That is by no means meant as criticism of the way Rodgers has us playing. Its just the obvious drawback.

Also Sterling is 17. He absolutely must not be played week in, week out. Let's not spoil a good thing.

Bóllox, he had the cross covered and Skrtel headed it away from his glove.

He wasnt easily beaten for the first city goal. He was against Tevez who was too strong for him, Tevez would be too strong for most wingers in a situation like that. He conceded 2 free kicks that i remember, one against Balotelli and one against Kolo Toure, neither of which should have been free kicks.

People keep blindly believing Reina is fine as the soft goals pile up...

Makes no sense either and dont try and use Insua as an example. The lad is good enough, his age should have no say on whether he plays or not.

    This x 1000

Look at Insua to see how we can spoil a young player that way.

Sure Jonjo was excellent today & he was been written off during the week after a poor game against Hearts!

The whole point was reasons I don't think he should be first choice. He wasn't perfect today so I think pointing out areas he didn't do well at is perfectly fair, especially when I'm asked why I don't think he should be first choice.

So the 2nd goal was his fault too?

What about the 3 against West Brom last week?

Llyod, you sound like a kool aid drinker with an axe to grind, regardless of what actually happened! :D

Reina simply was not at any fault for the goal today. I'm not sure why you can't just say "oh right, didn't know Skrtel got a touch on it!"

I don't think he will be first choice every week tbf.

He had a cracking game though for his debut and didn't hide at all, very impressed with him.

This is something David Moyes does quiet well

If he's coming for that we should know about it in Dublin. You know this too.

Although he scored a fantastic goal, Suarez was our worst player by miles.

Lucas wouldn't want to be getting injuref too much or he'll never get back in the team.

With Sahin and possibly, hopefully a good quality striker, we're in for a decent season.

The only reason I don't think he should be first choice is because of his age. I think it would be very wrong of us at his age not to show extreme care but it has nothing to do with his performance today.
