It's funny, had Song not ****ed off, we would still be in the same position as there was no RVP to get forward and assist the ball to, and that is reasurring.
Every team has to wait for a new striker to find his feet.
And when he does i'm hopefull he will do some real damage.

Winning is the only way we'll do it, not passing it around and "dominating" a team 0-0. Only solace is Spurs' **** start. As early as it is when Chelsea easily turn over 2 poor teams and Newcastle we create 1 clear chance over 180 minutes against lower midtable teams.
We can still get 4th but that's still one spot worse than last year.

Chelsea looked just as strong this time last year if i'm not mistaken. It's really too early to call anything. At this stage of the season we should be concentrating on the positives.
    4/6 before today.

In the league yeah sorry, I was including the FA cup tie. On those stats they definitely constitute a bogey team imho.

But that isn't the club, players or managers fault, it's the fault of the 3 teams above us on the spending table, Man U, Man City & Chelsea.
How can we expect more being realistic?
I expect us to have CL football with that squad anything else is absolutely fantastic.

We have hard fixtures coming up where 6 points from the 4 matches would be doing fine, but because of two poor results so far we'd be on 8 points from 6 matches. At what point will draws against lower midtable teams be deemed not good enough by anyone other than me?

Chelsea are a completely different beast this season. Obviously I hope the wheels come off but I wouldn't expect it.

    **** the cups. :pac:

I don't think anyone is happy with them, but you can't expect everyone to share your doom and gloom after 2 games, likewise had we got 2 wins a couple of goals from Cazorla , Podolski & Giroud, i'm willing to bet you would have said we are going to win the league :D.
Some of us look for positives when everything is setup right tactically (and it is right), and there are plenty of positives to take from our two games.
We have already mentioned many of them so don't ask.:p

I thought things would change with the new signings but it's the same problem we had last year but without someone to cover it.

Again you are being unrealistic, not many new players hit the ground running, even with huge pricetags.
Based on what most people say about Alex Song, we should have lost both of those games without him (and RVP), but we didn't, that's a positive isn't it?

I hope I'm proven wrong but I can see no improvement in chance creation compared to last season. Next match is against Liverpool so there should be far more open space, it's separate from the problem I'm seeing so far.

No team should lose against teams set up like Sunderland and Stoke were.

In a sense of honour playing football the right way, i'm sure most would agree, but you are talking out of you're arse when you make out they are the easiest teams in the league to beat.:pac:

Jesus Christ I can't think of anyone who twists every last thing to suit themselves. Any team that lost either of our last two matches against the two teams we played and set up the way they were would be a joke. They had no intention of playing for anything but scraps.

And it's being held up as some kind of an achievement, I'm saying it shouldn't be.

Last time we beat stoke was when Ramsey broke his leg
We had all these world class players we lost since in the team other years and still couldn't beat them
    Draw was decent

    Twisting?
You are changing your tune quicker than the weather.
When you get called out on your whinging and BS you change to something else hypothetical.
    I'm out.

I don't see people stating it is an achievement, I see one fan being overly negative with a point away to Stoke. I hope this is the biggest result we have against us wud hate to see your opinion when we get beat.

He's done well to get back in under a year.

They do that to shut Arsenal out - its how they play against the top passing sides. They could get the same results against City, Chelsea, United - or they could get hammered?! Who knows - the EPL is throwing up some odd results in the last few seasons. Before you'd go to Wigan and beat them, 9/10 you will, but last season showed they are capable of throwing up a shock. Didn't they beat 3 of the top 4 in the last few weeks of last season?

Maybe I'm seeing the glass as too half-full, but we'll take them both in the reverse ties - why? Because I think Giroud is a different type of striker than what we've seen for a while - maybe since Anelka (or Bendtner if he lived up to his own hype). He's a lot more direct and more of a goal scorer than creator.

We pumped up a few balls to him today and he won a lot of headers and knocked down one or two balls for the midfielders coming in. I think once they gel, we'll see more crosses being swung into him and he'll be somewhat of a different option for us.

Can you imagine the tripe & whinging out of him (and others who are waiting on it) when we do lose a game?
Wenger has lost the plot, ****ing joke...etc.
Whinging should be banned in here.

OK guys, you're all right, I was wrong, everything is rosy and will be great and we'll get 4th by March. Sorry for disagreeing and being disappointed by two poor performances against two poor teams in the same vein as our poor performances last season. I realise I was wrong and that Cazorla is actually Messi now. I'm not sure though if Gervinho or Podolski is Ronaldo, hopefully one of them will step up and make it obvious soon.

Arsene Wenger "Tiote is a good player, but he’s not on his way to Arsenal"

    That's that then.

I'm sure plenty agree with you - they're just crying themselves to sleep about now.

Its only matchday 2 and I've seen an improvement in work ethic so far, so I'll take that as a positive. I'll gladly join you in your doom if after matchday5 we still haven't scored.

Disappointed we couldn't get the goal today but a point away at Stoke is never a bad result. The new lads are still trying to settle but I think once we get going we'll be very strong this year. The defence seems very well organised, Mert in particular commanded things well today. I do think we need to sign a striker, just someone who can come on and offer something different if we need a goal. Today we could only turn to wingers to try and get us the goal. Still, there's a lot of positives to take from these opening games, few tough fixtures coming up, hopefully the defenders can continue their good progress.

Your most realistic post in the last hour :)

Sleep it off it won't seem too bad later

Looks like it'll be a long tough season though i predict we'll be a long way off third though comfortably finish 4th. Lucky for us spurs and pool are shockingly bad.

So did you expect Podolski and Giroud to not need any time to gel with the team and bang in goals straight away? They are two proven out and out goal scorer what more would you have Wenger do? That traitor is gone good riddance to him deal with it we will score goals people need to stop whinging and panicing after two games.

Comparing last season top scorer for Arsenal to a completely new forward line up after two games is equally as stupid.

Who is whinging and panicking? I am saying that we have to be winning these games and not happy with scoreless draws.
I said the same thing about the game as Wenger did and you thanked the poster that posted Wenger's comments !!! Baffling.

A few weeks ago most posters agreed give the team a chance will take time no moaning
Two decent draws the team looks solid but not spectacular. Sure enough the team needs time
And what do we get nothing but moaning

Get a grip. Nobody is moaning too much BUT people saying that two scoreless draws are great need to get real. Those two teams will not finish in the top half of the league in my opinion.
Our defending was very good on the plus side and there were no silly mistakes. Bould is doing his job well.
