Anyone ever used a light box for SAD?

I’m not sure if this is the right forum for this, but as there isn’t really a general health forum, I thought I’d try here.

My husband is interested in getting a light box to counteract SAD. He finds he suffers from it quite a bit during the winter and I imagine it will be worse this year with the awful summer we have had.

He would like something fairly portable and ideally would like to spend less than €100 delivered. There seems to be so many different types out there and they seem to vary wildly in price.

Has anyone ever used one? Would love some feedback on whether people have found them good, or any specific recommendations.

I've 2 friends who used them, decent reports, but it's like sitting with the sun IN your room. They're phenomenally bright, which is kind of what you want, but like, ya know!

I've also been recently interested in the lights, I'd love to hear some users experiences on them, my mate had one a few years ago with a timer that could cotrol the intensity, I think he used it to mimic sunrise,
