Since Arsenal won something? There was a cup win a coupla of weeks later, an FA cup the following year and if you want to include the one last year then I think Arsenal's 3 Emirates Cup wins should also be counted.

You think 3 Emirates Cups should count?

When comparing to our Champions League, FA Cup & Carling Cup?

    Good shout bro.

Sound job bro. However what I was saying was that the couple of weeks gap between Arsenal's FA Cup and Liverpool's CL doesn't really represent much of a gap. If one cup and and one tin pot since 2004 offsets the state your club has been in for the last 3-4 years and shows no real sign of pulling out of then yeah, sure, you have bragging rights.

In fairness; neither club have won anything of note for nigh on 6 [for yourselves] and 7 [for us] years now. The League Cup is a hollow victory and if you point to it as a tangible trophy win in saying it'd attract players then you're only trying to mask how far your club has fallen - I'd be saying the same thing if we'd beaten Birmingham in 2010.

I have great respect for Liverpool as a club but as things stand we're ahead of you in the attractiveness stakes for future player acquisitions, primarily by virtue of being in Champions League, amongst other things.

Anyway, this is more than a touch petty from our own posters here - yes, rationally there is no reason why Sahin the player would choose LFC over AFC at the present moment in time all things being equal re playing time etc. But there's no need to deride LFC over it either, their situation could easily be us if it weren't for the skills of the boss.

The boss that I'd hazard half of the posters taking the piss out of Liverpool probably called to have sacked at some point over the last couple of years.

Arsenal are definitely a more attractive club to join at this minute for 9 players out of 10. No argument from me. However to try make out that one of the worlds biggest clubs could have nothing to offer, as some here were, is a tad stupid.

The fickle nature of fans. ;)

I know I wasn't calling for his head, its very much a case of not knowing what you had until its gone.

It is very stupid. It's been alluded to in the LFC superthread that you're very much the sleeping giant at the moment.

2 German papers saying he's coming to us. I really won't believe it until its confirmed by Arsenal themselves.

someone here & le grove on twitter said sky sports in germany said he's coming to arsenal too

other papers & that are saying he's going to arsenal, some saying because of the hold up l'pool are back in

some are saying the hold up is arsenal are considering other options, some that its they're trying to buy outright now, other that they're trying to get a fee set for the option to buy

mourinho said yesterday something like he'll gain from going on loan & he didn't care who he joined, arsenal, liverpool or tottenham

And Alan Shearer really thinks he knows his stuff....

    @MrAlanShearer
Like I said Nuri Sahin is a great signing for Liverpool. He was never going to sign for Arsenal, Never believe everything you read in papers

He has to sign for Arsenal now, simply love it

Those German reports are from this morning & from questionable sources.

Guardian saying medical tomorrow with us ahead of move.

This is a cluster **** of a transfer.

If there is no option to buy with Sahin I think we should look elsewhere anyway. Very good player but it wouldn't sit well developing a player for Real Madrid without an option to buy.

I think he will end up at Liverpool at this stage tbh.

Whoever he signs for the excitmentt is gone
And the team that looses out won't care it's dragged on so much
Some balls of a transfer and it's only a loan deal

Pool fan here think your gang are more attractive to join at the moment with Cl. We might play him in a better position though. Don't think he is what you need at the moment. One thing I would say to arsenal fans is that you have a wonderful manager who imo is covering the stadium debt as 'not wanting to spend'.,enjoy the season and hopefully Sahin goes somewhere eventually

It's all pointing towards Liverpool - what a waste of energy that was.

I smelled a rat about this days ago. Too slow in going through. We should have taken him and negotiated in 6 months time. he will go to Liverpool now for sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,054 ✭✭✭✭L'prof

 I was taking this transfer as a given to be honest. Was hoping he could do a job for us while Wilshere was still out...so frustrating!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,746 ✭✭✭✭Galvasean

If Sahin does sign for 'Pool it'd be a great signing as they need to get themselves back up that table this season. He'd only have been a great signing for Arsenal if they could get a clause to buy him permanently at the end of the season. No huge point in us getting him if he developes into a quality player and then goes back to play for Madrid.

Anyone think maybe Theo has agreed terms and his increase in wages means we couldn't pay Sahin what we would have?

    Probably not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

Graham Hunter is suggesting that Arsene is only interested in a permenant deal and seems to be saying that there is still a possibility of that happening.

Matt Law reckons that Arsene always had doubts about Sahin's injury record and mentality. Crazy agent too apparently. So why put us through all that?

What's odd is everything seemed to be agreed, his medical and photo shoot were booked for Monday afternoon
With all that booked its like a deal was agreed
    Then something happened

To be fair mate that is the word of AFCamden on twitter. No doubt the guy is connected to the club and he has called most of the summer but you can't take what he says as gospel.
