Also, Diaby, this weekend in Stoke? If I had a choice I'd leave him in London. I would not let any of those cnuts near him! Pullis will probably have laser pointers on him for the game so a scud missile makes its move.

Heh i can picture the "he's not that sort of scud missile" quotes after the game.

Well, it's Diaby or Ramsey and the Stokes don't especially like him . I'd go with Diaby based on his height. He'd be that little bit better at dealing with the long throws.

I would play Koscielney at right back tomorrow too for his experience with Per and Verm in the middle. He would be better able to defend against the corners and long throws Stoke perfect. I don't think they will threaten us on the wings. Crouch is the big danger and he could be doubled-up on from set plays.

Our full backs are a huge part of our play going forward and we limit ourselves if we play Koscielny there. He can do a job, but it's much better for the balance of the team if we play with specialist full backs. Plus Jenkinson had a good game last week.

I think we should minimise attempts to negate Stoke [the caveat being I would start Diaby for his height] and instead work around how we can get at them.

    This is spot on

I dont think we need to change our style for Stoke RFC. Get the full backs to close down their wingers early to stop crosses, and bring an extra marker on Crouch from corners. Thats what I'd do. We've been ok against them recently so we dont need drastic changes to cope with what little they bring to the table.

We're already 5 points behind Chelsea, worrying about Stoke scoring should be very low on our list of priorities.

    Is Vermaelen injured ?

If not I think the same team as v Sunderland will start, think he will prefer Mert over Kos to combat the Stoke 'style' of play, even if Kos is fit

Can't drop the Captain just like that. ;)

Yeah that was a typo, meant Verm and Mert in the centre. Think I heard on the radio Kosc still ain't fit anyway. :)

    They're such a bunch of ....well, I won't say.

Their de facto position on Shawcross nearly destroying Ramsey's career is (a) 'he's not that sort of player' (he is), and now (b) Ramsey is showing bad grace by refusing to accept Shawcross's 'apology'.

'Sahin choice should be made pretty soon. AFC and LFC agreed all with Madrid. Now up to player. At LFC they think he can still be convinced' tweeted by Guillem Balague

lets hope he chooses us :pac:

if he chooses pool over us then they're welcome to him. Liverpool are a second rate outfit at best.

mid-table mediocrity vs CL football, if he has half a brain there's only one choice really.

trying to flog carroll and agger so you can buy.

    cant afford a new stadium

    cant attract decent players

cant get into the champs league

cant win the premier league and getting further away every year.

    Jog on.

Do you have statistics to prove that Arsenal are solely a selling club? Surely if we are then we must be the champions of this which should surely mean that if there was a Champions League of selling then we are doing much better than Liverpool, quite like our position in the league last year. Reaching 3rd in the EPL should not fathom the belief that a club is a "selling" club!

Also, look at the ratio of buying to selling this season for Arsenal. We bought more players than sold, if we are solely a "selling club" then the ratio does not compute.

I'd rather be selling players that are not constructive to a team's success than wasting £35 million on an aspiration which really turned out to be a wet squib.

Please, feel free to discuss. I'm sure you have all the necessary details to provide a valid & constructive argument.

Also, how do you like these apples?

    Arsenal a selling club?

I think the message here is that:

    -Yes, we have some problems
-We won't be taking any lectures from Liverpool on them.

There's only 1 thing stopping him coming to Arsenal and that would be if Mourinho has pressured the lad into going to Liverpool for the year. Can't see any other reason for him going there.

I'm not sure if anyone else made the most important point: Andy Carroll, £35,000,000. That's enough in £20 notes to cover the distance from Liverpool to Newcastle.

Just think of what Arsene would have done with the 50 million 'pool got for Torres

That cup win really has the players queuing up to sign for Liverpool.

Which one? We have quite a few.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,333 ✭✭✭bad2dabone

with all due respect Mr. Alan,
there's no real point in engaging with you on this, liverpool aren't even the best team in Liverpool anymore.

Since Arsenal won something? There was a cup win a coupla of weeks later, an FA cup the following year and if you want to include the one last year then I think Arsenal's 3 Emirates Cup wins should also be counted.
