Nice write up by AFCamden on Song and his departure. Bon Voyage I say and to Darren Dein aswell.

Just about to post that. Feeling a bit better about it now.

Jesus Navas is the most homesick footballer in the world, even with Spain he's chronic. No way will we sign him.

I was wondering was it him, supposedly he even had problems playing away in the league.

Nice, so it seems that the stance we wanted taken on players wanting away was taken with Song as opposed to RVP.

I really feel that this season is a bit of a benchmark for Arsenal and that Song's departure pretty much does it for the team of the Cesc era. Kept us in the CL, made the club some money - a trophy or two would have been nice but they did well for a cheaply assembled bunch I guess.

Onwards and upwards with a new Arsenal project though.

He hasn't been too bad in the past couple of years though. Was in the Euros with Spain and he went to the world cup in SA in 2010 with no problems

I agree, there's a sense of Arsenal 2.0 this summer.

The previous 'Cesc' squad came desperately close to winning the title - 2008? The year if Gallas sit down protest - and, IIRC, were only 4 points off the top at the end, having been beaten 2-1 by both Chelsea and United in the run in, after being 1-0 up in both cases.

Had history been slightly different - Eduardo not being crunched - who knows where they could have ended up. When you think aboiut it, Arsene's assembly skills, with what he had to work with (no money) were outstanding.

However, that Cesc squad couldn;t see out the deal, and ultimately, every single team when the going got tough, were found mentally deficient.

That squad was never going to win anything. Cesc and Nasri are not leaders, they are truly exceptionally talented players who prosper with other great players around them, but do not lead.

Look at Nasri in WC with Polkraine, for instance.

The experiment failed, but it was an honourable failure, and Wenger deserves great credit (and does for everyhing).

I am absolutely delighted with what we have done this summer in the transfer market. Obviously was gutted that rvp left and I'm so disappointed that he turned out to be like the rest. Full faith in poldolski and giroud to settle quickly and bag goals cause there movement is excellent and with the genius that is santi ( our best signing) behind them there will be plenty of chances.

The song situation was quiet a surprise really because I rate him very highly but from what I heard his attitude had gone so there was only one place, the door. There is a worry on who is going to break up the play and win the ball for us, hoping that diaby and sahin can fill that roll cause its the most important. Ever teams needs a ball winner

I don't fear for the back up right back position, I think jeninkson will do that just fine. Plus if vermalen stays fit we have a born leader. Who will give everything for the club.

So to sum up, I see a trophy for us this year. Happy days

Arteta, Rosicky, Coq and Frimps can all play deeper in midfield, I don't mind if we dont sign a "dm". I'd welcome another creative player though, or a finisher.

And I think I love Cazorla.

It's lazy journalism for the most part I'd say; Arsenal have sold players ergo they must buy players, lets link them with all the players with question marks over their future!

Arsenal - A trading club, not a selling club

Probably one of the best reads I've had in a while. Some great ideas put forward and it really puts a lot of stuff into perspective.

    Nice little quote about Arsene
There is only one reason for Wenger to still be here. He has been offered some of the best and most lucrative jobs on the planet elsewhere. This man built the Invincibles. This man has 3 EPLs, 4 FA Cups and a Champions League final. He’s not here to see how long he can keep Arsenal in the Top 4 now is he? Just like Fergie, he is only sticking around because he KNOWS he can do it again.

He knows much more about the board than you and I or Tim Payton will ever know. (Remember, he’s best buddies with David Dein so he knows everything that Dein knows and therefore everything that Usmanov knows.)
He knows much more about the club’s finances than you and I or Tim Payton
He knows much more about Kroenke’s intentions than you and I or Tim Payton could ever know
He’s not abusing all those water bottles because he loves coming 4th

With our lucky he'd brake his ankle in the first game and end up like diaby

On a more serious note holy crap what is up with the Sahin deal, seems alla bit fishy.

That spanish lad on sky sports pretty much said it was a done deal.
Wenger maybe trying to make sure there is at least an option to buy, hopefully.
Really looking forward to our next game

    I hope you are right.

My take on it from what I've read is that Madrid would like to keep Sahin after next year but are willing to put an option to buy for 14million (not sure if it's euro or pounds but i reckon its euro).
The reason it's taking so long is because Arsenal are of course trying to negotiate a better deal for themselves.

Are the commentators blind? How was the goal borderline? He was clearly offside! That's the 2nd time a player was offside and the analyst, whoever it is says it was borderline! Therefore, I suggest, everytime crisis is mentioned on Sky Sports, it clearly means "happy days" for Arsenal.
