I hope to god that isn't true and Berba was there a makeshift defender.
I know a lot of you here have been slating Chico, offsides etc, but IMO he could be as big a legend at the club as Ole was, similar sort of striker too.

Ole will always have the tagline as an impact sub, but he was a far better all round player than that.

Don't forget that he kept Beckham out of the team back in the '03 season. I think he played in the game against Madrid before Beckham came on.

He was a far better all-round better player than Hernandez is.

Transfer window closes in just over a week. So what do we expect or need to happen?

Expect - Berbatov to be sold, Macheda to be loaned, Bebe to be loaned.

    Wish - A central midfielder?

Trivia one lads, 5 players have played for United and Fulham in the Premier League, can you name them?

(Sorry if already posted at some stage)

Can only think of two and they're the obvious ones.

    Got another one. Two left.

I think I have another one. He's a bit of a wild guess though.

I think the issue with Rooney is expectation. The way he burst onto the scene, people now expect more of him. He was tipped to be the best in the world by some and he hasn't lived up to it. He still scores plenty of goals. If a lesser known, and lets be honest, more likeable player, say Welbeck, scored the goals Rooney does, he'd be praised no end.

Rooney is a very good player but people look at him as of he's a great player, which he has yet to prove to be.

Just on this subject, I understand it's an unpopular opinion, but I don't really like Danny Welbeck at all and I can't quite put my finger on why.

I don't understand people who watch streaming. Sitting cramped over a small cream trying to make out who the hell is who and listening to some arabic commentator.

You know that you can get HD streams and plug your laptop into your TV via HDMI, right?

Blargh, apparently the parents cancelled the Setanta subscription a few months back. What's the deal with it? How much is it?
I will be a nice Liverpool fan here and if you need some streams to watch the games PM me

Regarding transfers in, I will be delighted by the following...

That this new LB has been signed because SAF believes he can challenge Evra for a place, that he will be given a chance and that our LB will be selected on the basis of form.

We sign Dembele, I think he's been fantastic since Jol moved him into midfield. He holds possession well, works hard and so many of Fulham's best moves go through him. He'd be ideal for us if we continue to line up similar to how we started against Everton. I think he's worth up to 12m.

Transfers Out. I'd like to see the following.

Berbatov to leave, establish himself in a foreign league and play to his potential. I'll miss seeing him in a United shirt but he's too good to be sitting on the bench.

Macheda to be loaned out and actually have a productive spell, too much time has been wasted for him as it is, this one will be make or break. I still think he's a great prospect but for some reason it's just not happening.

I keep forgetting about Bebe, I wish him the best due to the start he got in life but I don't see him ever making it at United.

But a player with his ability could be getting 40.

I honestly think that's why Rooney gets so much stick when things aren't going his way, we all know what he is capable of. He is so ridiculously talented, but last season, while the goals were there, he was not firing on all cylinders.

He is so good that when he plays rubbish, he can still pop up with a goal or two, but he is such a huge influence on our team that when he is off, it looks like the entire team is off.

This is how I feel about Rooney, pretty fair and accurate post imo

Probably because he is not a lethal finisher, hopefully this will change :)

Macheda should go, he isn't going to make it here. We have RVP, Rooney, Welbeck and Chich. He'll never get a game barring the most catastrophic injury crisis ever.

Suppose Berbs has to go as well. Haven't a clue where he'll go though. I'd like if he stayed in the Premier League just so it would be easy to keep track of how he's doing but that's unlikely.

He even manages to make the tea towel look semi-cool. Will be sad to see him go.

    Oh well, we have RVP!

Any word on if SAF has said we are done in the transfer market.

He said it in his press conference last Friday, but then signed that Dutch guy this week.

Man Utd Scout surprised by Buttner deal

Manchester United Dutch scout Ed van Stijn is surprised by their deal for Vitesse Arnhem fullback Alexander Buttner.

Buttner has begun training with United for the first time today.
Van Stijn told Algemeen Dagblad: "Every season the club calls all their European scouts for a list of players.

"They ask you for a top five of the best players from the Eredivisie in any position. On the list, at the end of last season, I had Buttner at number three or four.

"I would place him behind Jetro Willems(PSV)."

    link

A few things about this concern me. Firstly it seems we have signed someone our scout doesn't rate too highly from an average league.

Secondly the scout is publicly making Ferguson look a bit silly considering Ferguson's comments regarding Buttner to be one of the most exciting young left backs in Europe.

Also worried that he might not be able to give decent competition to Evra at all....

Rooney's potential cropped up and then so did Welbeck.

welbeck has had issues with his growth than Rooney never had. Rooney was like some sort of man child. At 16 he was already well on in his development. Welbeck took a few years to reach that point and he is only there in the last year or so.

I think Welbeck has huge potential and his finishing is way above what some people make out. A great example is his goal v Spain in the euro under 21's summer before last, youtube it. Also as guides re potential maybe check out his first ever goal for United and compare it with his Euro's winner from this summer. Two completely differant goals but great indicators of the extraordinary talents the man has when it comes to being a really good striker.

He actually said there may be one more player coming in. Thus the signing of "that Dutch guy" this week

That scout should be sacked tbh. They are outrageous comments to be making publically.

Is Jetro Willems that fella who was made bits of at the Euros?

At 21, Evra was playing in the French Ligue 1. At 23, he was just making the LB spot his own at Monaco. He was 24 before he got his first French cap.

Buttner is only 23 and still has loads of room to develop. He only cost €5m. He is most likely a punt to act as cover and with a bit of luck, he may develop into something more. It's a no pressure transfer really.

While watching the Everton game, was talking to a lad from Derry who has lived in the Netherlands for the last 15 years. He has watched Buttner many many times. Says we have picked up a very good player. Very quick and a great eye for goal.

Jaysus...give Buttner a chance to get his shorts pulled on :D
....already doubting him and he has barely trained, never mind us seeing him in action!!

That youtube clip posted a few pages back does make him look more like a striker tho, so if he can't get 20 goals this season, sell him with Rooney.....

Two decent nights sleep and I've calmed down after Monday night. Apologies for my outrageous comments re Wayne Rooney. Just a product of incandescent rage about Monday night's dire performance. Onwards and upwards this weekend...we never die
