Any one else think Song was just trying to force his way out of the club a diffrent way than RVP :/ being a **** on purpose maybe

As for the fans booing today....for jesus sake its a wonder we can keep any player with fans booing a fairly new look Arsenal after the first game of the season. I dunno it seems since we moved from Highbury the other 22000 extra 'fans' seem to be a demanding lot.

It'll take time. For example it took Bergkamp 6 or 7 games to break his duck. I think he will be a success (provided he remains injury free). TBH from what i seen of our other two signings i was very impressed. Both seem keen to get on the ball.

It is hard to know what is happening behind the scenes at Arsenal. There are a lot of "untruths" being told. I read this on the 14th -

19m not the worst price for Song so long as it as reinvested. I liked Song but in all honesty players like him are ten a penny and it isnt as if he plays at a high tempo which i think at Arsenal we need a player to play at.
Frimpong is still raw but in time he will more then replace him

that was before he told Wenger he wanted to go on friday. Notice Wenger saying he was willing to sell at the press conference yesterday afternoon.

Maybe but didn't that situation give Wenger more bargaining power. 15m seems very cheap to me.

ppl who dont rate song/think frimpong will be better really really need to read this.

"This season Song can be ranked as arguably the best player in the league in terms of through balls. In fact, expanding it further, Song ranks respectively amongst footballs world-renowned creative talents, with only Ibrahimovic, Messi and Totti have created more accurate through balls than Song this season. This has paid off dividends, with the 24-year-old chalking up 7 assists- the second highest at the club- as he attempts to help fill the huge hole left by Fabregas in the summer."

Mertesacker looked woeful for the one chance Sunderland got. His positioning is terrible and he is slow as a funeral. Without Verm and Kos were lacking there.

I think overall Mert had a good solid game mate. I must look at it again.

On that occasion Mert was about 5/6 yards behind the other 3 defenders coming out and he allowed the striker to get the run on him. He didn't do much wrong after that but he is a bit slow.

well if you add that with the reported attitude problems then you'll see why he was sold so quickly.

if you watch the interview with wenger after the game he barely gave song a mention when asked about him.

it says creative not defensive... which means we've already replaced him with cazorla ;)

Can't disagree with that, i've seen continents move faster.

But I can't help but like the big man.

    :)

He's a similar player to Stevie Bould. Not the quickest, but a great footballing and defensive brain. Knows how to keep the backline from panicking every attack as well.

I am not saying you are wrong, it's just that I was not aware of that and was going on his footballing performances.

yeah. hes your most creative AND most defensive midfielder. itll take two players to replace him!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,333 ✭✭✭bad2dabone

Regarding Song, i'm a bit disappointed that we're only getting 15m for him, however if he's been dicking about, as it seems he has been, then we're well rid to be honest. The team seems to be getting on very well and we don't need any disruptive guys at the club. You're either Arsenal or you're out.

of course we'll miss him in the midfield. He has been fantastic the last couple of seasons. Definitely worth more than what we sold him for, but as always it seems we were backed into a corner!

Song will be a total failure at barca though imo. the new Hleb!

he could end up being a ball playing centre back for them.

Great price for RVP. Opposite for Song...

I'm starting to worry about next season already. Who will Barca be replacing and who can we expect to replace him from Arsenal?

    15m mate

Oh right...our great researchers on premier soccer saturday seem to think 19m but its probably Euros they were referring to.

Tiote would be a good replacement.

probably cost all the 15m though.
