That's exactly what I was told too.
Players seem to be leaving because they don't see themselves winning anything in the future. Hard to blame them as everyone, in any walk of life, wants to get the best out of their career. Song was missed today even though Sunderland rarely came out and attacked. His value will be seen when we play attacking teams.
There is a lot of misinformation and crap being spoken about the young lad and it's very unfair.

well these same players have got to take responsibility of us not winning anything. they are all on the pitch letting in sloppy goals, missing sitters and at times, not showing up.

We cant just blame the manager and the board all the time. PLayers have to take responsibilities of our failures

Agree. We should be winning trophies, that's the object of the exercise.

We probably would be if other teams weren't outspending us.
We cannot buy our way to the title, simple fact and as we are seeing its almost impossible to compete with that, but being realistic and accepting we are a 3rd placed team at best with RVP and song in the team, if we can stay the same or even move up a place, how is that the end of the world.?
All you lot are insinuating is Arsenal are nothing without RVP and song, and that's not true at all.

He has the potential to be better than alot of that list but as I said without proper game time we won't know for sure.

Ah yes that dreaded word. Potential. After 6 years of potential do you think the odds are in favour of him being a success? Not a chance. He wont be anywhere near the first XI in a few months either because he is injured or crap, or maybe both. Time will tell that I will be right.

Never said or suggested that we are nothing without RVP and Song at all. All players are replaced eventually. I remember the 1971 double winners and also when they were all gone. Also the Invincibles. Teams evolve BUT they have to be given a chance to win things and when we lose two top players every year we diminish our chances because it takes time for new players to adjust.

I was never happy with anything only first place all my life. Just the way I am.

His potential isn't being measured by his footballing ability but by his fitness ability, if he stays fit he can deliver that's my point it's not the same as seeing football potential in an 18 yr old

I'll come looking for you when your wrong

We have maybe 70 pages in this thread

And this here is my favourite post, absolutely spot on

But it's out of the bosses control, maybe the board could be using their collective brains a bit more but we know that doesn't happen, their pockets are more important all we can do is show faith and love in Wenger who really has tried to do it the right way this season, (established signings), we aren't going to win the league but we can be proud we still have lots of good players, and maybe even a few very good ones.

Agree with that. Players, manager and Board alike have the responsibilities.

Good point but the coach and the board have to take the major share of responsibility when you have a consistent high turnover of your best players over a sustained period of time. It is becoming an embarassment at this stage if we want to be honest.

Manchester United have their Scholes, Giggs etc who have stayed even when they had challenges, Chelsea have Lampard, Terry etc with all the ups and downs; we are becoming increasingly unstable to the extent that our vice captain joined just a season ago.

I love Arsene because he is an extraordinary coach but there is a problem with the administrative and managerial system at Arsenal if we have to keep loosing our top players to rivals every season. It is not healthy for the club.

    1) yes, but if a better club bids for your players is there some rule i'm not aware of that they have to be sold?
If they're Barca, then yes. This is what big clubs do to small clubs... and compared to Barca everyone else is a small club. Arsenal, like others, have done the same thing to countless other clubs
    2) is it? or is it the fact that he's a relatively cheap, decent option that will provide good cover in various positions. he's average, decent, nowhere near as good as being made out here
*Shrugs* They did the same with Mascherano. World class players sitting on the bench
Why didn't they go for him first instead of javi martinez? would it be money?
Again, *shrugs*. Maybe they didn't want to get into a bidding war with Bayern. Maybe they feel that they can prise Song away easier. Which would be worrying from an Arsenal perspective

I hope I wont have to wait 6 years. We will have Van Persie's kid playing for the first team then!

Sickened about Song tbh. Todays result was dissappointing too although Spurs and Liverpool losing has made it easier to take. Didn't get to see the match but sounds like the same old problems we had all last season. Onwards and upwards for a win next week I hope, wish we weren't playing Stoke though.

Yes he was very good and it's just a pity Giroud didn't finish that through ball he gave him. We would have been very happy campers tonight. Things look very promising but we dropped two valuable points today which would have started our season very well.

I'm sorry but this team has been in a Champions League Final, Two Carling Cup Finals and Countless Semi-finals in the last 6 years.

Plenty of Chances to win things there and with the exception of a couple of FA Cup semi finals where Wenger played 2nd string due to challenging for the title, the players have only themselves to blame for poor performances when it matters.

Champions league semi final 2nd leg against Man U and the Carling Cup final against Birmingham come to mind there, woefully under par perfomances.

I just cannot fathom the attitude of some fans when it comes to the club. It's as if the players are saints and are being held back by big bad Wenger and the board. Wenger has continued to get us into winning postions, but the players have always let the club and fans down in the respect.

Kaka would be a perfect signing for Arsenal right now. Experience, great attitude, winner

also can't believe the negativity towards today's result. A draw at home isn't great, but it's hardly a disaster when most of our important players were flying around the world on thursday to get back to the club after the ridiculous friendlies. I doubt many Sunderland players had to go through that and they played the usual Martin O'Neill tactical plan to a tee.

Ive heard Arsenal linked with Blackburn's Nzonzi. Which would be a hilarious replacement for Song!

    Post 1182.
It is the responsibility of players, manager and Board.
The players are far from being saints but you will never get consistency with having to chop and change all the time because of your best players constantly leaving.

    @AFCAMDEN
Alex Song is gone, good. The man has been a poison around the training ground lately. Stevie Bould nearly took his head off in Cologne.

that's the tweet I saw about Song's attitude. there's been many more from journalists as well as bloggers over the last few days. Very much in the vein of Wenger losing patience with Song.

Never heard of AFCAMDEN, who is he and what's his connection to the club that he was with the team at training in Cologne?

Surprised you haven't. Very respected by journalists and bloggers, tipped Cazorla well before the rest as well. Even Piers Morgan listens to him (I realise that probably isnt an endorsement :D )

It's more than Just him that has mentioned songs attitude. Henry winter, John Cross as well as loads of bloggers have been going on about it.

I first heard murmurings about it last week when they were in Koln, so i think there is some truth to it.

We definitely deserved more out of that today. Mignolet made a great save from the very classy Santi Cazorla who set the tempo of the game. Giroud in fairness done everything right prior to that chance...it just wasn't on target unfortunately.

Overall i'm positive but my heart nearly sunk to my ankles to see Arshavin got a few minutes. Arshavin, Squillachi, Bendy Boots, Chamakh and Park still on the squad...:( Its not who we sold but who we still have im more worried about. Mertesacker looked woeful for the one chance Sunderland got. His positioning is terrible and he is slow as a funeral. Without Verm and Kos were lacking there.

Overall though i wouldn't panic yet. I do hope Santi is as generous on the cold nights up in that football purists hotbed that is Stoke on trent but i think we look in decent shape. The goals will flow yet and our season will take shape. Perhaps a better shape than we all think

Fulham 5-0, Swansea 5-0 and WBA 3-0 (v pool) today....i doubt thats first second and third wrapped up somehow.
