Dont cross the boss it would seem.

I may be wrong but didnt Wenger say recently (even though as he always does he didn't directly admit song was leaving) that if he did leave a CM (might have even said DM even though Song isnt an outright DM) would be brought in? obviously that might just mean Sahin but even then (especially with a buy out option) him & Arteta would work very well in the CM roles Arsenal employ where both seem to do the defensive duties.

Wenger after the match, via Arsenal.com twitter:
Wenger on selling Song: 'We have Wilshere coming back now, we have Diaby back, we have Rosicky not far away and we might bring someone in'

Song fell out with Wenger and has been a malign influence in the dressing room apparently, so id say the fee reflects that fact we want rid asap. He'll be another Hleb at Barca I'd stake my house on it.

Sahin will come in, but to be honest we dont need to replace Song with a like for like player. Our midfield today proved that. Arteta was the one sitting back and mopping up. He will continue there and do better than Song ever did.

We will play against a lot of better teams than Sunderland and you will see the folly of that statement if we don't replace him properly.

What I don't understand about this deal is the fact that Song had a years remaining on his contract, why is he being sold for so little(or at all) if it isn't a forced sale?

song is a cúnt simple as

bad influence in the dressing room, notions of grandeur, thinks he should be at a better club

if song was half the player people here think he was do you think he'd be sold

arsenal & wenger have had no bother putting up with those types before: henry & RVP etc. wonder why

I don't like the statement of fact that Song was doing this or that when 2 weeks ago there was nothing being said.

I think it's a case of the Trappatonis. My way or the highway.
Song was one of our best players regardless of what people think.

Thought Sunderland found space easy between our midfield and defence in the first half, it could be rustiness or it could be we need a DM brought in
    We shall see

We really did look hopelessly exposed at times.

    The Good: Gervinho, Carzola.
The Bad: Lack of firepower up front.
    The Ugly: Diaby and Arshavin.

Not a bad performance and the new players will take a while to settle in but deja vu already this season. There are always key players settling in.

Why do people rate Diaby, he has done **** all in his 5 or so seasons at Arsenal. He has played one or two good ish games in how many years? otherwise he is a waste of space that adds nothing to the team. He strolls around the place, never chases back. He should **** off back to France.

Diaby, please **** off I don't care how good you do in training.

    1) He is going to a better club

    2) He's being sold to Barcelona. That's generally a sign of quality

Same parking the bus ****e as last year, it'll probably be easier to pick points up away from home. One way to beat the parking the bus ****e is runs in behind like Freddie used to make regularly - which should now be Theo's role with all that pace and Carzola's ability to thread through.

Piss off Song, according to some Barca fans he'll be warming the bench out there anyway.

On a side note, isn't this none posting of streams complete and utter rubbish. I understand why and not blaming boards in anyway but they're freely available on twitter! Don't see the copyright f##kers tackling the twitter machine us Irish must be a right soft touch.

Bit of an over reaction. This is the first competitive game Diaby has played in a long time. Give it time.

Also, I didn't think Arshavin had a terrible game. He didn't look as lazy as usual , tracked back well and looked good on the ball at times.

    quite the opposite!

i have heard that Song is a fantastic guy in the dressing room, pulling up jokes etc and giving a positive vibe in the same manner that Eboue did before so i dont believe for one second he had a bad influence in the dressing room

I have seen enough of Diaby the last few years to make up my mind. He should be no where near the first XI.

Arshavin is probably only chasing back to try and make his move back to Russia. He wont be there in a few weeks.

That's exactly what I was told too.
Players seem to be leaving because they don't see themselves winning anything in the future. Hard to blame them as everyone, in any walk of life, wants to get the best out of their career. Song was missed today even though Sunderland rarely came out and attacked. His value will be seen when we play attacking teams.
There is a lot of misinformation and crap being spoken about the young lad and it's very unfair.

Your the only Gunner I know that's seen enough of him the past few years, you must have camera's in the physio room.

Diaby has always shown potential he now needs games to back it up, make or break season, I wud'nt be abit surprised if he puts in a sensational season

    1) yes, but if a better club bids for your players is there some rule i'm not aware of that they have to be sold?

    2) is it? or is it the fact that he's a relatively cheap, decent option that will provide good cover in various positions. he's average, decent, nowhere near as good as being made out here
Why didn't they go for him first instead of javi martinez? would it be money?

also it's the same team fabregas supported & played for their youth academy isn't it.

didn't see him being let go at the first sign of interest from them - a player with far far greater links to them who would undoubtedly have had a greater urge to play for them & of far far more quality & worth to the team than song, this is getting stranger & stranger

    KINGVictor wrote: »

it's being said by le grove on twitter for one, google it

john cross even reckons it purely arsenal decision to sell him, which is the case, then why is he being sold?
it's not like nasri or RVP even fabregas

henry was not very nice i'll call it (to fit the PC standards of boards) to song all them years ago at fulham, didn't see him being sold that summer did we.

he's not being sold because he's the important, irreplaceable player he's made out to be anyway - he's being sold for a good reason no doubt.

You clearly missed the satire in that post. The fact that he is anonymous either on the pitch or off the field speaks volumes. He joined Arsenal in 2006 FFS, that is 6 years ago. He has done nothing for us yet people still rate him!!

DO you think he should be starting ahead of Whilshire, Carzola, Arteta, Sahin (maybe if he joins), Rosicky, Ramsey never mind any replacement for Song or any young and up and coming players like Frimpong and Coquelin. I would put him in the last place of that list.

i suppose it depend what you call a bad influence

someone could tell you a joke make you laugh, be a out going character etc.

but at the same time turn around & say to you what the fúck are we doing here lads, we're good players we should be winning trophies etc.

RVP was good for squad moral lest we forget, organising meet ups for player & the wags, getting the kitty for pat rice's leaving - i'm sure all those things gave a great sense of togetherness & team bonding and all, but i forget what happened with him, is he injured or something?

In those 6yrs he has never got a consistent run in the team personally I think he could be world class if he sorts his fitness out, many French coaches have said the same also.

He has the potential to be better than alot of that list but as I said without proper game time we won't know for sure.

The French manager himself has stated that a fit Diaby would be the first name on his team sheet, admittedly he has his moments, a couple today where he dwelt for a fraction too long but he could be immense for the team this year if he can stay fit, but thats always the big if with Abou

Canal + is reporting that Sahin will sign on loan on Monday. Also say that we are in discussions with Bilbao for Llorente. It's hard to believe one when you don't believe the other.

Do you think Wenger would let Song go for so little when he knows he had 3 years left on his contract.

By all reports Song has had a very bad attitude problem for some time now and had a falling out with Wenger in the past two weeks. This is Wenger being ruthless and I like it. We will sign midfield cover to replace song.

Not to mention he wouldn't get into our best midfield this season with the signing of Cazorla and or fitness of Diaby anyway.

Some sanity and realism at last.
For some having a laugh in the dressing room and being a practical joker makes them good for the club.

Agree. We should be winning trophies, that's the object of the exercise.
