Yeah, it's Ashley's fault Liverpool were stupid enough to pay that money. You should be so lucky to get an offer of half that.

You've missed my point. I simply don't want to strengthen a team that are possibly going to finish ahead of Liverpool next season. I wouldn't want to sell him to Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton, Spurs, Man City or Man United either.

Ha, fair enough, I thought it was bitterness.

Just going to copy and paste from my post on the Sunderland thread yesterday :)

Pleased to be honest mate but nothing that has me jumping out of my seat with excitement or anything. Just a solid signing really. No more no less.

I can't see him being anything other than an experienced squad player to play behind Fletcher (or someone else, but I'd be amazed if we didn't get Fletcher in the end). As Kingdom Bhoy has said in the Sunderland thread he's better than any other striker we currently have, so at least he's an improvement and perhaps it takes just a tiny bit of pressure off us to sign another striker. He's also played the lone striker in a 4-5-1 a lot at Everton over the last few years so that helps as he'd be doing the same with us when gets game time.

If he chips in with 8 or so goals next season we'll have got a very good return on him and if he warms the treatment table for a year he'll have only cost us wages.

In fairness he's played and scored goals in better teams than us for basically his whole career so to give him his dues he'll be a good player to have around.

    A solid squad player signing.

Saha has commitment issues - 6 months at Spurs, 1 year deal here. Course, it could be the clubs looking at his sicknote record...

A little unfair to describe him only staying 6 months at Spurs as commitment issues. I'd imagine if he was offered another contract there he would have taken it.
As for him only signing a 1 year deal at Sunderland, he's 34 now and had his injury problems. I would have been amazed if Sunderland had offered him anything longer than 12 months
He was at Everton for 4 years and Man United for approx the same time IIRC

What's the story with Spurs and Adebayor? Are they waiting for the Modric money or what?

That deal has been close to completion several times over the last few weeks and every time Levy has been hailed as a genius :D

Isnt that deal tied up becasue adebeyor wants any money city make from the sale to make up for his loss of wages?

In fairness, judging by Levy's transfer record that is a deal that I would not be surprised to see happen on deadline day and Spurs coming away from it rather happy tbh.

Fergie when talking about the RvP deal just said, that in 1999 he had the four best strikers in Europe in Yorke, Cole, Sheringham and Solskjaer.

Maybe he had the best striking options compared to other squads, but individually they weren't even the top 4 in England for God sake.

Anyone think Hernandez or Welbeck might be moved on before the end of the window?

    Absolutely not.

Welbeck just signed a 4-year extension, Javier Hernandez has spoken about how he welcomes the competition if it makes the team better <3, admittedly Chicharito might have to settle for a Solskjaer role as an impact sub, but he will definitely get chances to start with the amount of games United play, not to mention the amount of injuries we always seem to have.

As for the 4 best strikers comment, meh, he says a lot of things people don't like. Yorke/Cole were probably the best partnership in Europe at the time. Sheringham was class and Ole speaks for himself. As a quartet they were absolutely the best in Europe at the time, all 4 left a huge mark on the 99 treble season.

Weren't top 4? Yorke and Cole were. Ole was the super sub not top 4 but still. To say both Yorke and Cole weren't top four is nuts. Pure bonkers and it shows a great lack of understanding and bias.

Try reading what is said before having a hissy fit, Knex said individually they weren't the top 4 he never said Yorke and Cole weren't part of the Top 4 but to say the other two were is plain wrong.

In Europe? They were certainly in the PL, can only think maybe Fowler, Bergkamp and Shearer at the time, and possibly maybe Owen, could have matched them. Might be missing someone there though.

In Europe the likes of Raul, Ronaldo, Crespo, Van Nistelrooy, Makaay, and Batistuta, who was still knocking them in at that stage, could all be rated higher. There's definitely a case for more that I'm missing.

Anyway, its all subjective, was only bringing up as a post filler rather than an 'Us against Ye' type scenario that you seem to be thinking I'm after.

Valencia have rejected a 30million offer from Spurs for Roberto Soldado.

Soldado has also stated he has no desire to leave the club.

I think 30mill would have been a good deal for him, but I like the message it sends out that Valencia are no longer a selling club.

Every clubs a selling club when Madrid or Barca come knocking. I'm fairly shocked they turned down 30mill for Soldado, and even more shocked spurs are have bid that.

Why don't they bid for Llorente with that kinda money?

Oussama Assaidi just signed for Liverpool in one of the most under the radar signings I have seen in years.

Liverpool Football Club have reached an agreement with SC Heerenveen for the transfer of winger Oussama Assaidi, subject to the player passing a medical.

The 24-year-old, who has scored 20 goals in 68 appearances for Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie, will now undergo a medical at Melwood.

Assaidi has represented his native Morocco 22 times since making his international debut in February 2011.

One of the highlights of his young career came in a 6-2 win over FC Twente in 2010 when he scored a hat-trick and assisted the other three goals.

Would say so. Might turn out to be handy cover that has the ability to surprise us all and go after a first team spot before the season is out.

The club sold him because his contract was expiring, not because the money was needed.
