IIRC it's generally one of the highest rated programme shown on RTE annually or at least it was a few years ago. So it is popular.

You're missing out IMO.

For me it's one of the televisual highlights of the year - as a fan of cringy comedy and of all things Irish, the Rose of Tralee is better than the Olympics, the Galway Races, the All-Ireland and the Ploughing Championships combined.

So it's that time of the year again, the cringefest that is the Rose of Tralee. Personally I don't watch it, in fact given the choice between watching it or gnawing off my own foot, I'd rather gnaw off my own foot.

The embarrassing Daithi and the string of spiral permed, giggling, simpering twats that parade their awful poetry and God forbid Irish dancing. The God awful cheeky chappy escorts that have been draughted in from Gaa clubs all over the country.

So do you support the Rose of Tralee or do you think it's time to put it out to pasture once and for all?

Not watched it in years tbh. I'm sure some people like watching it but it seems a bit outdated to me the whole "Come on up here girls til we get a look at ye and see if we can knock a bit of craic out of ye" format.

Then again I'm sure the festival is paramount to the local economy so no harm letting it continue
