The US SNES takes a different power adapter to the PAL and JAP models it seems. It might have the same power requirements, the problem is that US adapter for the SNES and Virtual Boy won't fit the other machines.

Ah I get you, the actual connection is different but the voltage output by each transformer is the same. Damn thats awkward :(

The US one is wider and has a pin in the center of it.

Never knew that, damn.I wonder if any of the universal adapters have the required connection

The US SNES uses a DC power supply not an AC one like the other ones you've mentioned - be glad the connection is a different size or you'd have released the magic white smoke !!

With the exception of the NES, are they not all AC-DC?

Now I never knew that about the Snes/Super Nintendo psu...

So, it's true, Retr0 really can teach us something genuinely new and interesting now and again!

    Amazing! ;)

    Couple of bits arrived earlier.

My Amiga RGB Scart arrived and as anyone who's seen the vid I stuck up last night in the Amiga 600 mod thread knows, I really needed it.
Also Burn:Cycle CD-i pack with Star Trek VI and Compton's stuck to it all fresh and sealed.
    dsc2456b.jpg

Sealed no longer, I just love the case on this game (the colour and rubbery feel to it). The game itself, well, you know :)
    dsc2459b.jpg

Star Trek VI and Compton's, only reason I have them is they were stuck to the new and sealed Burn:Cycle.
    dsc2460b.jpg

    Edit:
Yes, I do buy some games purely for the art/case/look and I'm not ashamed of it :)

Do you have a CDi in your collection?
Keep it next to the Jag CD to make the Atari device look good?

Well, I don't have any of them setup (or even in the house) but I have to admit to owning at last 3 CD-i's :o
    A 200, 400 and a 600 series model.

I think all the NES (toaster variants) are all AC units as is the PAL SNES. Connecting a DC supply (with voltage & current requirements fulfilled) to these will work grand as the supply will just pass thru the consoles rectifier.

    Three CDi's!
That's like having three different infestations in your bowel!

I tried it but it seems that the US Super Nintendo and Virtual Boy take a different power supply than the Japanese consoles, European consoles and US NES take. I'm pretty sure the adapter not fitting is the only difference. The adapter says only for use on US SNES and Virtual Boy. Ah well I kind of need a transformer for my Saturn anyway.
If its the same as the US SNES,its pretty easy to knock up an adaptor so that you can use a Megadrive 1 PSU with it .

Thats the guide I used for mine and its fairly easy.

Just picked up The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Pumpkin King for the GBA, boxed, for €15.
A nice little platformer it is too.
Going to pick up the surprisingly good Alice in Wonderland they made for the DS, as a tie in with the movie.
Not in the style of the film at all, rather more like Burtons artwork, which is great.

That's been on my wanted list for a while as well.

I've been meaning to post this up here for the past few days. I know it's a bit grubby but found this at a car boot sale last week.

Goldeneye is in great condition, the console is a bit grubby as is the controller... that's gold controller, rumblepak and extended memory module.

    216532.png

I managed to bargain the nice lady down to a grand total of €8. Delighted with myself.

I haven't powered it on yet though and it was out in a tiny bit of rain for a little while but for that price it was worth the risk.

    Couple of bits today.

Very nice and white condition A600 case (a little dusty but no stains or marks on it and the badge even has the plastic protective film still over it).
    dsc2489li.jpg

Some more buttons to help me decide on which type to use on the Amiga 600 mod.
    dsc2490m.jpg

I'll probably end up using these buttons on the mod as they are small and wont stand out that much (compared to the temporary ones I've been using).
I might even be able to hide them in plain sight using some white sugru to cover them yet remain usable.

Get yourself the floppy emulator for it (and CF hdd if you don't have it of course).
    It's great :)

Yeah... I don't mind really having to load a shoebox full of floppies any time I want to play something on it.

I lost the original controller anyway so it doesn't get fired up much these days anyway. Pretty sure the Mega Drive controller works for it though.

Didn't realise you got a controller with the A600?? Yeah, most controllers with that connection will work on Amiga's.
Floppy disks die all the time, especially the Amiga ones for some reason. I have a lot of Amiga games but I mostly load them from the hard drive or floppy emulator now.

The Amiga floppy drive is just a standard old school floppy drive though... easilly replaceable. The eject switch might not be as thick and awesome looking but it'd work, not worried about it so much.

Yeah it came with this controller:

    compzip002zv7.jpg

The one on the left there anyway. Not sure if that's it's standard controller but that's what mine came with until I accidentally wrecked it trying to make it less stiff.

    inb4 that's what she said.
