I class the Stallone Dredd as a guilty pleasure. I actually enjoy parts of it :o
That said I think the new one will piss all over it.

Figured out [with the help of boards of course] how to access & gain content off the Xbox Live Indy Marketplace for use on an Irish XBL account. Awesome sauce

This comes up a lot here. I've never had any issues with it.
Sign in with my US account, download, sign out, sign in with Irish account and play away.
Or has something changed in the way it works?

Nope thats more or less exactly it, I wasn't aware that a local license was downloaded along with a profile license, with the local license allowing any profile on the console to play

Off the top of my head. (and I haven't seen the film in years)

The helmets didn't have the correct bit over the nose or the zigzag lines. This is criminal.

The Angel gang were killed off in a matter of 10 minutes.

Hammerstein is from the ABC Warriors - absolutely nothing to do with the Dredd universe. (they even had to make up a strip in the comic connecting the two just around when the film came out so save even a bit of face)

Not only do the bikes look nothing like the ones in the comic, they fly. They ****ing fly?! Wtf is this ****?

    The gun. Jesus. The gun.

    And worst of all.

Worst bloody thing you could do.

    Dredd takes off his helmet.

    WHAT.THE.****.

    Oh no wait, there's worse.

Judge Dredd was a film of two, unequal halves.
One half, the good half, had all the visuals there, Megacity One looked like, well, Megacity One, the Judge uniform was changed but it looked good, as did the weapons, all well within limits.
The Angel gang looked brilliant, just weren't in it long enough.
Hammerstein was in the wrong film but it was still nice to see him, and Ian Dury, even though one of them lacked a hammer.
Even the references to Block War and graffiti from Chopper served to make it authentic.
    So far so good....
The rest of it stank like yesterdays diapers.
Stallone was sh1te, I don't know if it was his ego or the desire of the studio to make the most of their star but the very fact that the helmet came off was disgraceful.
A central feature of the character, gone.
I could forgive that if Stallone had been any good, but no, not to be.
Stallones Dredd has a sense of humour, he has catch phrases, he is petty, oh dear very poor indeed.
We shall not mention the actor whose faecal matter was smeared across the screen as Fergie, a great character in the comics reduced to another note for note crap performance from your man.
Lane wasn't so bad as Hershey, not stunning either, just a bit meh...
The only major actor to earn his wet ham sandwiches was Assante as Rico, ok, for a twin brother he didn't look like Stallone and thankfully he didn't act like him either, no he was much better, a suitable raving lunatic out for revenge, brilliant fun.

So, Judge Dredd, a great movie if it wasn't for 66% of the male stars of the film....

I too was a big fan of 2000ad, read it feverishly back in the early 90's and read most of the major story arcs in the collected format by Titan books over the years.

I was always a Nemesis and ABC Warriors fan I have to say, learned to draw from copying O'Neill and Talbots amazing Nemesis art work.

And I have a signed print of Joe Pineapples on my attic wall, signed by Simon Bisley himself!!
Got it in 90 and still have it.
Must get it framed one of these days!
Some plank wrote on it back in 91, right in the middle, frakkin beetch!
I wonder if I can get it restored/removed?

    Fixed it for Ya!

We can agree to disagree on the clothes and the gun, but at least we can agree on a few key points that makes the film a painful thing to watch.
Best way to see it is to get drunk/stoned and sit through it with unsuspecting friends giving a running commentary on whats wrong with each and every scene! They'll thank you for it, or at least you'll think they will, until the next time you want to watch a film with them, and they will do an Enternow and find a reason not to turn up :(

I think we're all also forgetting how hot Joan Chen from Twin Peaks was in it:

    Judge Dredd, the game!
I have it on the MD, it's at least better than the film, based around the decent Alien 3 engine.
Not the Judge Dredd game on the PS1, that was awful, the Xbox game was pretty good though, MegaCity One was more like Skerries on a wintery Thursday afternoon, no one really in it.

No idea it was that easy. Looks like I have some games to get when I get my xbox hooked up to the internet again. Is there a list of must plays for XBLIG anywhere?

I have a UK Xbla a/c for just such occasions but it only works for downloading demos and free stuff, to buy full indie titles you still need a credit card registered at a UK address, I assume its the same with any attempt at obtaining a US Xbla a/c from these shores.

I have a us account for such instances. Although I've only ever downloaded free games and themes and stuff from it.

Ah, something monstrous and relentless, that feeling that civilisation has fallen and you and a small band are all that is left of those with a mind to call their own, afraid to face their own certain doom.... a bit like the Sega forum!

Ah, the traditional Retr0 annual error, never the same time of the year twice but when it happens it's worth quoting it before he edits it away, or tries to convince us he knew it was a mistake and was only testing us.
He's thinking of Demolition Man, which every 3DO owner knows had Stallone and Bullock starring in it and it was considerable better than Dredd.
