    I completely agree.
I've a few items that arrived today that I'll post up later ;)

On a sad note, I received something I was waiting on for a few weeks and its a complete and utter disappointment and I'm genuinely upset about the quality of the workmanship.
I could do with a Whiskey to calm me down but seems as I'm not an alco and it's just after 12 I'll settle for a coffee.

    Sadness.......... Pure sadness........

A little bit, but the sadness is real.

Two "Arcade Machines" arrived today, one is fine, the other is an abomination.
It's not as bad as it might sound. More in a little bit when I get some pics.

Cabs need their own threads normally due to the sheer awesomeness...

Well it's just I don't want to get excited about it and then it ends up broken or I got scammed and ended up with egg on my face.

Anyway if you really want to know it's Jack Bros on the Virtual Boy. Japanese and unboxed but it was at a price I was willing to pay.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

Did you plump for that Galaxian cab? I'd have loved it but it's in bits and yer man's pricing seems all over the shop. Sure on Adverts he wants €900 for it. He text me the other day saying I could have it for €400.

The restoration job on it alone would be more than likely double that to get a monitor, new artwork etc. I think the back is even missing from it.

I hope someone with the financial clout (ergo, you :D) picks it up and gives it a new life, it's sad to see beautiful machines like that just dying basically...

If you got a Windy or an Aero City though, you'll have to be beaten up, because that's just not fair! :)

edit: @Retr0gamer: Indeed, like the feckin Virtual Boy I bought that time that arrived in a robbers satchel. State of the thing. Nice GET! on Jack Bros though. :)

Oooh nice  Are you planning to collect a full set?

I'll be buying something seriously cool within the next twelve months. I'll say no more until I get it but it's seriously seriously cool

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,289 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Nope, way too expensive. Anyway I only buy games I want to buy so a complete set for me is all the good games (and maybe some legendarily crap games) for the system :)

Also in a weird totally anti-dreamer of the year fashion the seller refunded me 2 sterling because the postage to ireland was cheaper than quoted.

Perhaps its best to not get excited until you see the pics. Nobody will be jealous of my arcade machines today.

Is one of them table shaped? Please tell me one of them is table shaped.

I think purplebloke said there is 1 known Aero Table in Eire isn't there? But that one is in great nick I thought?

At least Aero's have a slightly more plentiful parts base than the Konami Windy. It's why I went for the Astro City, parts are more common. The Windy you'd have a cat in hell's chance of finding spares for those. :(

I think SteveSI or CathalDublin should buy that Galaxian, please don't let it die a miserable death. It deserves to be brought back to it's former glory lads!

That's the first I heard of that!

I was thinking the Stevemeister may have picked one up in Japan and had it shipped back - but then it would be in good condition if he'd hand picked it.

I'm 976.32% certain that purplechap said it on these here forums as we were discussing the Aero Table a while back. I'm certain he said a bloke in Leitrim or something like that had one?

Those Aero Tables sure do get to some far flung places...

Ahhh I saw them on ebay and was going to pick up a few.

Definitely get on to whoever sold you that, it's a state!

How's the construction in the other one?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

I don't get it. Are those the miniature replicas? That's a bloody awful job, sorry to say it. Definitely get a refund. What was the other one you bought?

This was made by the guy retro collect did an article on so I though I might get a decent job.
We had also agreed a fair wholesale price for them for when I open up the retro store in Dublin and could have sold them quite cheap.
He's offered to refund me or make another one so he is a decent sort of chap and he doesn't know how this got through his quality control.

I'll see how the next one turns out.

    Today's bits.

Some new and still sealed Psygnosis Spectrum games as well as an Amstrad cover tape I've been on the look out for:

And a few more pics of the failed Robocop miniature:

Few bits for the Amiga mods:

I can extend the LCD now and place it away from the main pcb:

The other mini arcade (with an old iPhone 3GS inside running the show):

Just the few bits I got recently.
Tales of Symphonia took longer than Ghoul Patrol to arrive and it was from within Ireland as opposed to Germany. Seller had even refunded me. Never seen an post be so slow.
Have to say thanks to the Groutch for the PS1, he got it in the shop and posted it down which was super nice.
The other 4 games got from another guy on adverts and the boxes are in great shape and complete with maps and all.
Secret of Mana map is torn right down the middle, so still have to get that.
Haven't played Super Ghouls and Ghosts for at least 15 years but still tempered where all the chests were so far. That's kinda scary as I must of played the crap out of it in my early years. Still good at it too.

I have seen these mini arcades sold on Ebay and Jamma+ and they all looked terrible , if not I would have bought a lot of them .
I wish Hallmark didn't stop after just two :(

I love those little candy cabs, but they are really difficult to find now. I saw one on YJ but it went for silly money a few months ago.
