Well to be fair, the American coach was questioning the fact that the Chinese female swimmer swam faster than the Lochte. Which is kind of questionable....

Only over the final 50m of that race. Her overall time wasn't better than Lochte.

I don't get your point there? What are you saying? Sorry, not trying to be smart or anything!

Well, from the way I read it, you were saying that the Chinese girl's win/time was questioned because she wasnt American?

My point was the US coach raised it because of her time compared to the male swimmer Lochte.

It still makes you question it though....well it did for me at least.

It was amazing to look at. I'm going to believe she was just that good and be in awe of it for now as that's what the Olympics is about and if it's found she is doped up later then get disappointed in a few months time.

Well yeah but they were questioning her performance even before the whole Lochte thing came to light really. And it always seems to be the Americans that question everything lol :-)

Franklin isn't smashing her personal bests, destroying the rest of the field and hasn't done what Ye did to Lochte and the best male swimmers.

Team GB beat Uruguay to knock Uruguay out. Delighted with that!

Well she did swim the last 50m quicker than Lochte in the male equivalent.

Also Chinese are well known for a history of doping in swimming

In general I'm not just talking about these games. Ye is Ye I'd really love to give her the benefit of the doubt

Lol at RTE interviewing the crowds outside the excel. Great buzz there.

LOL. Only the Olympics could make table-tennis a compelling game to watch.

    :D

I think table tennis should be the tennis and actual "tennis" as it's known now should be known as "ground tennis" in order to make the distinction.

Wow, a boxer disqualified for holding! Referee was terrible! He's awful mad.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,949 ✭✭✭Samich

He's refusing to go near the referee for the hand raise.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,949 ✭✭✭Samich

He shakes the opponents team and now walks out.

To be fair, he was holding a lot and had already been given a warning not to continue doing so.

whats with the anti Chinese sentiment at he games...first it was doping accusations against the female swimmer, then two of the badminton teams are thrown out for allegedly not playing competitively in a round robin game (when they'd already qualified for net round)..and now in the final of the female table tennis..(two chinese finalists) one of the girls is warned that she must play better or face disqualification. apparently her serve was not up to standard (hit the net a few times)..now in a final, playing for gold..i hardly think she''s intentionally doing this..she had been warned a number of times by an official, and she eventually broke down in tears during the game.

Can't comment on the swimmers or table tennis player but I saw the badminton game and all the players took the p1ss.

They hit the shuttlecock deliberately at the net. I wouldn't be happy if I had paid to see that farce.

Ha just seen that about the badminton, what a farce.

Love those little updates your man does on RTE, they are very good.

Holy **** that weight lifter smashing his elbow was horrible to watch...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,433 ✭✭✭✭leahyl

Haha did you see one of the female Ukranian athletes when she was been given her medal by a male official - she leant forward twice for a kiss and he totally ignored her - embarrassing!

The issue was that she wasn't throwing the ball high enough for the serve not that she was hitting the net

I heard some sportsman say what is wrong with playing strategically, it has happened in other sports, it happens a lot in football. Man U have been accused of it a few times.
