    Damn , Yoshi's Island

So many awesome games on the Snes , I wish I still had one :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 33,733 ✭✭✭✭Myrddin

Ah cool, maybe I'm mixing it up with Mario RPG or something. Yeah my Snes PAL days are over except for any PAL exclusives I may want which I suspect there may be none.

When I get back into buying again first things first will be a US Snes & do the universal mod on it, & from there it's NTSC only. I'll pick up mostly SFC I'd say, where language isn't a problem.

That reminds me, when I was in Akihabara I happened upon a very small, almost hidden away shop run by some aul wan. She had every rare game in the known universe.

I got to hold, and have my photo taken with (I don't care if this sounds sad, it's a fecking massive acheivement) with this game:

    premium-game-7122.jpg

However, I spotted something I think is even rarer, a copy of Yoshi's Cookie that came bundled with a free microwave! (Seems it's in the same Wired article I got the above snap from).

    premium-game-7140.jpg

I think the price was around ¥200,000. Yer wan also had some games that were so rare they weren't even for sale. I forget off hand what they were now, but I'll dig out the snaps at some point.

    ¥157500, that's about €3.50 isnt it?

Alas not, more like €1600-ish. It's value has escalated though, the copy I saw (and held) was marked at nearer €2500. I didn't see the microwave that came with it, yer wan had it locked away somewhere but it was bundled with the game. It looked more like a range than a microwave though.

I din't get to hold Darius Alpha though as yer wan had it in some plastic box with the success letter.

I cried when I saw that game and the letter. True story. :(

That deal in PCWorld is steller, wonder if any more stores doing it,
might pop into Cork Store for a Gander, I still having bought StarFox, MarioKart and KidIcarus for 3DS.

But was finding the 3DS to small to hold for long periods, and screen too small.
But now ive no excuse, Got 3DS XL and its steller. Pilotwings looks unreal on it.
And so much easier to hold. Gamestop left me bring home old 3DS for System transfer and throw in free offiical Plug.

Now which handheld to play, VirtualBoy on the BUS would be fun :)

Reminds me, I must get a VB at some point. Since the VB fiasco earlier this year Vertical Force has been gathering dust on my shelf.

Nice pickups by the way. Is the 3DS XL a worthwhile purchase? What's the 3D effect and up scaling like compared to the standard 3DS? I'll probably hold off on one now due to the iPhone 5 launch next month. Plus GRev have said nothing about a PAL Kokuga...

The 3DS XL looks the business, I have a feeling they'll be a big hit by Christmas.
I don't know if Sony have anything up their sleeve to compete, you have to assume so, but they are taking their sweet time telling anyone about it.
I just don't feel any buzz at all, maybe a price drop will do the trick ?

Brother got a Nexus 7..... Want one!

They had them in PC World yesterday, not overly impressed really. Thought the 7" screen was just too small for liking, probably great as an e-reader but a bit titchy for movies etc.

Already have an Asus Transformer so kind of used to a 10" screen which probably accounts for my bias against smaller screens.

Not sure how many of the Google content services are available over here either ?

Give me a price drop and I'll be all over the Vita. Gravity Rush looks the business! With Sony's financial trouble I doubt they can afford to drop the price.

Wow, I didn't know the screen size was that different!
Ideally I'd prefer a 3DS with a bigger screen but I do have the black Zelda version which makes up for the smaller screen... doesn't it?

Hey, you life won't be complete until you have the Zelda one and the XL.

    Few bits today.

    dsc2350cf.jpg

Floppy drive emulator and a couple of key-rings.
The emulator will be used on a few systems before I decide its permanent home. Amiga 600/1200 will get tested first.

The LCD screen can be moved and placed away from the main board if you want to setup something like below. I'm not sure thats how I want it but will decide in due course.

Is that the same floppy emulator from a guy called lotharek on ebay? If so, let me know how it goes as I'm interested in getting one from him.

If you bought 6 for 90, if you go back in with your receipt you should be able to avail of the 8 for 100 deal a la the original thread due to their price promise...

Two more games for a tenner if you head back...

I'll just leave that temptation there..............

Also did they have Mario Tennis in stock!? Was there Kid Icarus/either of the RE games there too?

    You louser!
Tortured all night I was before succumbing and going in just now!
Picked up Steel Diver and Batman Arkham City for a tenner!

Damn you Martineatworld, damn you and the horse you rode in on!

Glad I could be of service! :)

In fairness, it would be wrong not to head back when you could get two more games for a fiver each. Hell even if you had everything, you could have got them to trade in against a game/preorder in Gamestop or something.

Here's hoping Carrickmines has a decent selection left...

Id highly recommend the upgrade from 3DS to XL. Its not as good looking as std 3DS.
But its so much easier to play games on it between comfort, easier access buttons and Bigger screen.

Screen itself makes it, picture looks absolutely gorgeous.
Saw people complaining about PIXELS can be seen now, but I didn’t notice anything.
Mario 3Dland – No real improvement 3D wise but easier to play.

But Ridge Race and Pilotwings looks UNREAL. 3D really pops on those.
Looking fwd to getting MarioKart\KidIcarus\Starfox to see how good 3D looks on it.
I’ll have to pick up a Zelda 3DS down the line for collection :)

    I gave into temptation this evening and picked up;

    Mario Kart 7
Professor Layton & the Lost Future
Professor Layton & the Spectre's Call
    Kinect Disneyland Adventures

all for 60 thanks to that PC World Sale.

Unfortunately there were no copies of Mario Land 3D left which I would have preferred over Kart 7. Also I can't shake the feeling that when I look at these four games I feel odd because none of them allow me to punch or shoot anyone.

Well technically you get to shoot green, red and the notorious blue bapstard at people in Mario Kart 7.
You could also punch someone in the Kinect game, but only by accident!

I shall be playing Earthbound on official Nintendo 90's hardware, hardware that has a different design to the European and Japanese Snes, with washed out smarties buttons and it's coming all the way from the land that got in Colombus' way when he was looking for fancy spices.
How slow is post from the states?

Is it a legit copy, repro or one of those flashcard carts?
