    Because he's not very good?

He has all qualities, a striker needs, imo. He is always a threat, is determined, fights from start to the end. How can he bet 'not very good'?

I find it amazing how people get criticised here through misinformation.

I don't understand the dislike for Ayre as the club has made improvements in all areas except the pitch during his tenure.

Ive no dislike for Ayre, I answered a question based on my opinion of why Ayre is disliked - hence the "probably" in my quote

In fairness, Bellamy was one of our better players last season. I'd love to keep him for one more year as an impact player. Especially as we've already lost Maxi and Kuyt.

Though stepping up efforts to keep Bellamy should have nothing to do with efforts to sign Joe Allen, they're completely different players in different positions with essentially nothing in common (aside from being Welsh). No reason not to try to have both.

Just because he was one of our better players does not mean he was good. He was average.

He doesn't have all the qualities of a striker because he isn't one. If he had all the qualities of a striker you'd think teams would actually play him there and he'd score at a decent rate.

Same squad as the last day + Agger it seems. I was hoping a few of the recent join ups would get a few mins at least although I knew they weren't slated to. Hopefully a few will get a run out on Saturday.

He might not be a nominated striker, but I would play him upfront. What else can go wrong? ;)

Line up is very meh, would have liked to see Suso and Dani starting at least.

    Will catch the highlights!

Probably watch the first half and go to bed then. I'll catch up on the second half tomorrow evening if it's worth it, which it probably won't be.

Isnt that what the second half is for in pre-season friendlies?

Second half midfield looks like it'll be Lucas, Adam and Suso. Looking forward to seeing that to be honest.

Yeah plus I think he has gone with experience to start with given Roma will have a strong team out tonight as they're further along in preseason. Looking forward to seeing Mclaughlin.

I know it's unlikely but what happens if Joe Cole is man of the match tonight?

Lets just move on from Allen and get Pepe into Cazorlas ear about coming here

Get rodgers an early edition of the FM, it'll show the bargains

    Completely different player.
Rodgers wants him like most new managers look for a midfielder when taking over.

We all slowly consume copious amounts of humble caek!

Na, hopefully some mls clubs will be watching and fancy some of him, still reckon america is our best hope of getting rid of him

Do you mean they should all do a runner on him at the airport or a Tony Soprano style contract?

Another ex-Manchester City scout David Fernandez will join Liverpool Scouting and Recruiting Team. (Daily Mail) -- Eziz Allamov (@Ezizallamov)

At least there is some movement in the scouting dept.

    Random twitter crap:
    Anfield Online ‏@anfieldonline
Liverpool place £10M price on the head (and legs) of Stewart Downing. Interest from West Ham and old club Aston Villa.

Really is clearing house time from last season. Henderson and Coates the only 2 in last summer that aren't linked with moves away I'd say. A touch of the Andy Carroll thing if we give him back to villa for half what we paid.
