Somebody tell me why I should be picking Hazard over Mata. Seems to be a lot of love for him here, bit risky I would have thought for a young guy coming from Ligue One. Will he be a nailed on starter?

Mata will be playing the Olympics as well as having just finished Euro 2012. On the other hand, Hazard's doing a normal pre-season with Chelsea, and has been playing and scoring. That's all really, I don't think there's anything wrong with Mata as a player, I just think Hazard will be better prepared for the first few games of the season.

I watched Chelseas game against the Sounders and he was excellent, not afraid on the ball, he ran at the defence, and showed it by getting what was it, 2 goals? I reckon he'll get a lot of assists this season, and a nice few goals. Granted, poor enough opposition, but we'll see tonight how he does.

1 goal. I agree I think he will chip in with a good few goals this season for Chelsea.

Is it naive to stock up on 3 Chelsea players for the opening dgw ?

Don't think so. I mean they should win both games comfortably. I expect them to keep two clean sheets.

I plan on keeping 2 (1?) of the Chelsea players anyway so it's grand.

Chelsea, on paper, should be one of the more dominant teams in the PL this year. It'd be disastrous if they weren't. Hazard is the main reason why they should. Every big team in Europe were keeping an eye on him and I reckon he could well be the best player in the PL this year. As for Mata..... well he has great statistics he got over 15 assists last year, right? But then again...... how many people had him on their team regularly last year? Last I remember very few had him despite his exploits. That's probably the main reason I'm going for Hazard. Mata was good last year but not good enough, I think Hazard will be good enough, he should be. This is coming from a non-Chelsea fan aswell btw.

opinions please? have 2k in the bank for torres > rooney after the dgw. may also change ashely cole for lescott or richards after dgw. tevez and kagawa may change before season starts depending on pre season and how likely they are to start. also if VP stays in the premiership that will also change a lot of things :P went with krul and bego as GKs their fixtures go nice together

cheers. i wouldnt mind some man utd cover alright but i just dont trust any of them enough atm to start of the season with them, plus i like VDV. i think hel be a decent points getter this year. waiting to see how city line up, if tevez looks like a starter i could swap for aguero and then could upgrade nolan and have a mid of vdv toure kawaga and hazard??

I dont think VDV has been or will be as good for spurs as he was when he first came, when he first signed I jumped on the bandwagon straight away, but last season he suffered with injuries and iut takes him a few games to get his fitness back, i think sidgurdsson or bale are better options for spurs this year , in fact i think sig will take his place and vdv could be sold

would spurs be willing to lose both vdv and modric?? i thought vdv did very well last year when he was fit, the hamstring gave him some problems but he always heals very quickly and i dont think he misses as many games that are made out, but again it depends on what AVB thinks but if he plays down the middle il be keeping him, he'd be a shout for set pieces as well

For the moment yes, that might change. I'm still very unsure about the United attacking mids situation, doubly so if this chap Moura signs

Not certain enough, unless Kolarov leaves before September I'd stay away from all MC full backs. Stick with the donkey Joleon, or Kompany if you have money to burn. Doubt Kolo's going to see any real game time, and Savic is as good as finished at City.

Lescott's got to be the City defensive pick imo

Big goalscoring threat, and pretty much guaranteed to start now unless they sign another centre-half

He's in my Day 1 team anyway

I'm a Spurs fan and I assume it will be Kaboul and Vert at the back. With BAE and Walker at full backs. With Dawson & Caulker cover for the two CB, possibly with some rotation. But he won't be a nailed on starter anyway.

First go at picking a team for this season, let the tinkering begin!!!

    Jaaskelainen,Vorm
    Lescott,Jose Enrique,Simpson,Rafael,Fabio
    Silva,Sessegnon,Brunt,Cabaye,Britton
    Torres,Rooney,Pogrebnyak

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 215 ✭✭hupskip

After much debate I have gone with the following team for GW1

    De Gea
    Koscielny, Cole and Lescott
    Nani, Hazard, Nolan and Pienaar
    Tevez, Torres (C) and Pog

Subs: Begovic, Hangelaand, Maloney and Bennettt

I have left myself with two in the bank so I can upgrade Torres to Rooney
