Would be a smart move by Chelsea as he looks a very talented young player.

Eden think's that lad is better than him.

There's an even younger one again Kylian (16) who's supposed to going to turn out better than both of them, and another who's only 7 - haven't heard much about him

Ask an Arsenal fan if they would prefer to watch George Graham football and win trophies or watch a Wegner team not win trophies. There would be a pretty even split imo... Don't see why it's such an alien concept. Isn't Roman spending a fortune to try and turn his team into an attractive footballing side?

I'm an arsenal fan can we have the trophies & Bruce Rioch football?

playing good footballs all well & good, but means fúck all without trophies to show for it.

I'd go watch boring, lumping the ball up the field football everyday day of the week if it meant winning trophies.

Playing excellent football and winning nothing means exactly that, nothing. Sure you'll get some plaudits for playing the beautiful game but theres more then one way to skin a cat.

Ask any of the clubs that have got relegated trying to play attractive, open football aftering getting promoted and I bet if they could guarntee safety in return for exciting football they'ed take your hand off.

Romans trying to bring the best young players from Europe and the World in and they are in turn, regarded as attractive signings that will make us play a different way. In the EPL you need steel and flair to win games. With Hazard/Mata/Marin we have flair players with good technique and creative ability and then we have the likes of Ivanovic/Mikel/Terry to add bite to the team.

If Roman wants to spend money we've made and money we will make then fairplay to him, shows his ambition and what he wants from the club.

Hamburg have signed Milan Badelj from Dinamo Zagreb for €4m according to Sportske.

Any FM fans have probably come across him at some point!

Transfer fee's paid. Too awkward to do wages as palyers contracts can fluctuate yearly.

Ignoring players wages is where your argument falls down then. Factor that in and you'd see a big difference between budgets.

This thread used to be like a twitter feed for transfers on boards. Can the argument stop or go elsewhere, please ?

OK so despite the transfer fee's paid which are relatively equal (and as a result I'd wager results in wages being relatively equal) the differential in success can be attributed purely to the wages bill. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Berba at the moment is apparently available for 5million. Doesn't mean he wont be expecting high wages.....

High fee doesn't always mean high wages and vice versa.

    I can't believe i defending Chelsea here but .....

Your argument is fairly inconsistant with the facts. They were actually one of the more attacking teams in last season's CL and I'd bet scored more goals than anyone bar the two spanish teams.

What happened is they found themselves in a semi-final against Barca and with a new manager took a pragmatic approach of trying to go through the tie before playing stylish football, which is the only way anyone bar Madrid has beaten Barca in recent times.

I mean, what, they go ahead against Barca and you'd expect them to go looking for another??

Then the final they focussed again on defending because Bayern would have ripped them apart in a more open game.

Personally, i was rooting for Barca and then Bayern but there's no rediculous moralising to be done. To approach the games in any way other than the way Chelsea did would have been idiotic.

Arsenal turn down a £25m bid from Chelsea for Theo Walcott. Surely that can't be true?

If someone offered me €25m for Theo Walcott I'd assume they were joking and reject it too.

A few of the reliable journos say that Arsenal are open to the idea of selling Walcott if he won't sign a new contract.
I can't see anybody offering 25 million as a starting bid anyway.

I think that will turn out to be a great bit of business. I seen Rayo a good few times last season as I like the whole back story behind the club and they had a Liverpool player on loan. Michu caught the eye when watching them.

Feckin' steal if that is true!

I hope bookies will be as generous with bets on him this coming season wherever he ends up, like they were last season :)

Lot of posts on Twitter, not sure if they are credible, are saying that Luke de Jong has signed for Gladbach for €15 million.

Still no confirmation, but he's been in talks with Gladbach for awhile now. €12-14M is what I've heard in the main being quoted for him.

Naldo has moved from Bremen to Wolfsburg, Diego will be happy about that.

Michu and de jong are both steals if true, any news on guidetti? Has he returned to city?

I thought that was more or less secured about a week or 2 ago?

A 23 year old whose stats put him in the top tier of players in his position. Clubs have paid an awful lot more for an awful lot worse. Having said that he does only have 1 year on his contract - I really want him to re-sign with Arsenal anyway - just coming into his prime now.

Not sure of mentioned already but..

Reading have signed defender Adrian Mariappa from Watford for £2.5m and are hoping to sign Chris Gunter from Notts Forest before touring on Wednesday.

Watford have lined up Fitz Hall to replace him.

Carlos Vela is in talks with Sociedad over a possible permanent transfer.

Southend player Bilel Mohsni is on trial at an unnamed PL club.

Ron Vlaars move to Villa is close to being sealed for £8m.

And according to skysports the Oscar deal is done, while the Cavani deal is help up by wages.
