I also found a ghillie suit yesterday and the second I put it on I was teleported into water and then back out. Lost all my gear. Just quit out and back in and it was fine but I spawned miles back from where I was!

I didn't even have precious beans. Killed him later on with an axe though.

1.7.2 is a mess atm, lots of 'sessions lost' and not recording gear/position on spawn.

I'm not sure is this the right forum for this, but where is the cheapest place to buy ArmA 2 & Private Military Company add on (for the high res textures?), possibly even the Arma X: Anniversary Edition? I really like the idea of Day Z and want to get Arma 2, but at the cheapest price I can.

Yep, that was to say the least a bit strange. It's gone now. We f**ked that sh*t up!!

I was blessed in our encounter, that bench saved my life, I had just been tagged by a sniper, only had 3000 blood.

Hey All!

Just bought the Arma 2 pack with op arrowhead purely so i can play this mod

I'm a big fan of the idea of this game - are people still enjoying it? is it possible to eventually survive for longer periods of time once you start understanding the mechanics?

It is, but it will take frustration to get there. But it is worth it totally. No game I have ever played has given me the same experience as this.

Yeah, still enjoying it. It's in Alpha though, so it's changing quite a bit. Once you have a decent amount of equipment, you could just camp out near one of the smaller towns, and pretty much survive for a long time. But exploring/hunting for vehicles, or other big camps, is too tempting. For me at least.

Yeah, 2nd that, I usually survive for ages just trekking around the forests. I usually bite it when I go to the usual hotspots.

Lads is there anyway to roll back to the previous version??
1.7.2 is a pain.Cant get onto any servers ans wouldnt mind rolling back if at all possible.

Edit found instructions for a roll back with a link to older files.

As Hawke mentioned these are the cheapest versions around.

If you get the combined operation i.e. Arma 2 + Arrowhead you will get the hi-res textures.

If you decided to use Arma 2 Free you got the low res textures!

The BAF/PMC addons are only for the hi-res character textures. Operation Arrowhead is mainly required for the backpacks.

You need the full version of Arma 2 if you want the hi-res textures for everything else.

I just did the roll back real easy too. At least i can join the Boards server now.. Download 1.7.1.5 Here 139MB~

extract to the same folder as your current @Dayz folder
so mine on steam is;

\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\

Now if you want both versions, you rename the @Dayz folder you just installed to something else, eg @Dayz_1715, change the shortcut to load this mod too
eg change the bold text from "@Dayz" to the bold text below;

I'd agree with you except if you hit F whilst using it you get a laser pointer. Which negates the close-range disadvantage. Only visible to other players out to 100m.

I wouldn't be too bummed, the AKM is the second best AR behind the L85

Although, got shot in the back of the head yesterday with an AKM, while climbing down a deer stand ladder, lost a m249 and a DMR...AKM only took 2 shots to get me to -19,000 blood..

Nope. AKM is the only AR besides the L85 that can be zeroed. Fewest hits to kill of all ARs, greatest accurate range, very common, ammo abundant. The AKM is one of the best mid-tier guns you can get, only stuff like the SVD, AS50 and similar "high-tier" stuff surpasses it. I can sight, zero in on and one-shot man-sized targets from ~600m with the AKM's iron sights with ease. Easily one of the best, if not the best.
