I scored 11, I could actually take up a British passport due to fact that my mother and father were both children of British* Citizens, well they were both Irish but both my grandfathers whom I never met were both British Citizen's due to the fact they were born in Ireland whilst it was under British rule before Independence.

My parents would first have to claim their UK passports before I could claim then, neither will do it as they are staunch Nationalists, and my mother said her father would turn in the grave if she claimed he was a British Citizen to get a UK Passport, the same man fought in the old IRA in the war of independence.

It is actually safer to have an Irish passport anyway because if you were kidnapped with say a UK passport it would be off with your head wheras an Irish Passport may see you being released.

Not how it works unfortunately. If that was the case everyone here with a Grandparent born in before 1922 would be able to get one.
