Forgot to say the direct line the department gave me to give to the garda is never answered

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,667 ✭✭✭Frynge

And the new number they gave me is a fax machine

I'm actually being serious when I say ring the Joe Duffy show

they love this sort of stuff, and you'll most likely get sorted as a result of it

    Ehm......

    No peg

    Won't be doing that.

The Garda looking after it came down to me in work to explain what is happening and told me it will be the middle of next week before anything can be done on the matter

Yeah, I meant the DOT, Frynge, sorry, should have been clearer about that.

I get the feeling this will be the best thread since the "car hit, other car drove off" thread.
I hope they act quickly before the new "owner" realizes something is amiss and the car disappears.

I reckon the DOT has now sent out the "new owner" a transfer denied letter thus blowing the gaffe on the OP.

    That would be unusually efficient.

I hope not but had I read that 4 min ago I would have called to make sure that don't.

Frygne, Do you want me to go with you to get the car back. I don't mind going along and giving you some help if needed. Where is the car located?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,667 ✭✭✭Frynge

Thanks for the offer clearodara but I think I'll leave it with the gardai

Hopefully it will be sorted sooner rather than, and I think the tread will have to end with pictures

Go get the car back yourself, whats the new owner gonna do,report it stolen?
The new owner could beat several shades of sh|te out of the OP, as from their PoV, the OP tried to steal the new owners car...

Shocking carry on from state agencies.
    Communist f**king Russia?

    Starting to loose faith here.
I'd start threatening to sue everyone at the DoT and their cat at this stage.

What use would that be? The department clearly don't care and you can't issue against any one individual.

This probably deviates from the normal transfer of owner scenario so they put it on the deal with next decade pile hoping it will go away.

Sorry didn't realise you were trying to guess the car, but no it's not a CRV.

This is really bull****. I feel really sorry for op.

It's really a sad sight, where you practically give evidence and point at location of your car and they still give very famous " oh jaysus, we can't do anything" bit.
I wonder what will happen if you go there, take your car back by force and bring it to Garda station. My money is on you getting put to the cell to think of what you have done and car will be given back to thief...

Oh, I wasn't guessing, it was some other person :P

...and car will be given back to thief...

Let's not presume the current car "owner" is the actual thief... I doubt any car thief would be dumb enough to try and register the car after they stole it

Consider the torch passed :) OP, if my experience is anything to go by you'll just have to be a pain, call every day if you have to.

I plan on that but I'm going to snow patrol tomorrow night so it could be Monday afternoon before I get to hassle them again.
