Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Great idea for a thread.
Not a golf course but one of my first golf memories encapsulated in a picture. Seve at Royal Lytham & St Annes in 1988. He won twice at Royal Lytham & St Annes, 1979 & 1988.
In 2001 David Duval another favourite of mine won there too. This year(in a couple of weeks) it's back there & I'd love to see Sergio follow in their footsteps and win his first major.

The agony of this miss will live long in the memory. For Louis it's the moment the green jacket slipped out of his reach, for me it was the moment I wished I'd backed him each way! :rolleyes:
I love the photo though, its almost better without the huge crowd in the background.

This is a great picture i think,
two of the best golfers of their generation,
Faldo renowned for his steely determination,rarely if ever showing emotion,
and the late great Seve who always wore his heart on his sleeve.
seeing these two embrace and in tears really shows what the ryder cup means.
this is my favourite ever sporting moment(this and C.L. final 1999)0 -

Some more moments of golfing agony...
Greg Norman misjudges his approach on the 9th hole at Augusta National during the 1996 US Masters and reacts accordingly as his ball trickles back down the hill. He shot 78 that day to a Nick Faldo 67 and a 5 shot lead became a 6 shot deficit.
Colin Montgomerie departs the 72nd green of the 2006 US Open at Winged Foot. After a perfect drive, he mis-hit a 7 iron badly and made a double bogey 6 to lose by one stroke.
Bernhard Langer misses a 6 foot putt on the 18th green at Kiawah Island to win a crucial point against Hale Irwin. Had he made it, Europe would have tied the USA in the match and retained the Ryder Cup following the famous tie/retention in 1989.
Thomas Bjorn watches as his ball trickles back into a bunker for the second time on the 16th hole at Royal St. George's during the final round of the 2003 Open Championship. Protecting a 2 shot lead at the time, a double bogey there would eventually see him lose by a shot to Ben Curtis.0 -
