Will they still use Queen's songs? They were an integral part of the original film.

A classic soundtrack, check out this interview done back in March with the director. He speaks about using "some kind of Queen cover"....

A lady by the name of Melissa Rosenberg is supposed to be writing the script for this.

Take a look at her IMDB credentials...

Even Dexter being there isn't enough to excuse the True Love Waits / Anti-Abortion turds that feature sparkly vampires...

A cover like this classic they used in The Source.

 that is like a who's who of terrible writing....

I feel I am the only one alive who likes Ryan Reynolds. He's been in some Turkey's granted but I'd imagine he'll be well able for the swordplay and he's far from a bad actor. If anything it can't be worse then Highlander 2.

i really wish you didnt say that :p:D

i like reynolds myself, i have no problem with him, i just think going by some of his other action films where he was the lead character he didnt really impress me,

green lantern was clearly his low point action wise and safe house was probably his best, and TBH i wasnt to impressed with safe house, he seems to be better in comedies and romcoms, maybe hell prove me wrong,

Have you seen Buried? well worth a look if you haven't and probably his best role by far imho.

Was just talking about this with the other half. How come we can identify Clive Owen as a great choice to play McLeod but Hollywood producers choose a guy best suited to rom-coms and get someone who writes tweeny bopper bull**** to do the script?

I dunno about that bit, have you seen the remake of Amityville Horror? He was quite good/evil in that...until they threw in that stupid scene with him chopping wood...shirtless. Like, ewmahgawd sooooo hawwwwt!

Rather perversely for a guy so well built, Reynolds just isn't masculine enough to carry off a clan warrior from the highlands... Maybe if he stopped waxing, moisturising etc. for a few months. As he is, he's just too damn pretty/metro to be taken seriously in an alpha male role.

Reynolds is rom com at best, he''ll never be an action star no matter how much Hollywood push him.

Micheal Fassbender would be good in this role but I read somewhere that he's looking at CuChulainn.

god i cant believe their proceeding with this, and on top of it all ryan reynolds is due to play the lead,

    http://www.empireonline.com/news/feed.asp?NID=34395

there is no way in hell reynolds could pass as a scotsman, he should seriously consider getting back with his wife he seemed to pick some of his best roles when he was with her, and though she keeps rising hes just keeps falling and falling since they split,

i wonder woud connery be interested in playing remirez again

This is just a big bowl of wrong.
Hollywood really is devoid of good ideas these days.

Clancy Brown could still pull that off

Given their record to date on this it'll probably be Taylor Lautner...

For me, there are a few things I'd like to see in the inevitable remake.

    • Show the passage of time.
    • Finish it in the past / present day, but not the future.
    • Keep the swords.
May seem obvious, but I can bet that if someone mentions the word “future” in the script, then lightsabers / lazer-whips, etc will be added.
    • Don’t explain the “why” of immortality.
      i.e. Highlander 2 (Aliens), etc!
    • Immortals have learned to keep their “secret”.
i.e. they aren’t celebrities. I liked the fact that MacLeod needed to obtain a new identity every few years to maintain his cover, while living a “real” life.
    • No CGI / Kung-Fu / Wirework.
Sure, these people may have had 1000’s of years to hone their skills; but they’re not magic, nor able to fly, etc...

Other than that, chop and change all you like. Add / Remove any characters at will.
Heck; you can even rename the film, and have the “Highlander” be Chinese for all I care.

i could accept this much, but anything beyond would be to far,

    Unusual...

Looking at the Wikipedia page here, a chap by the name of "Robin Morningstar" was apparently in the running for the Conor MacLeod role.

Having never heard of this chap before, I took a look at his IMDB page; and apparently instead of starring in the Highlander reboot, he's now starring in "Chakan The Forever Man"!

The plot synopsis of that film is as follows:
A warrior, cursed to live forever, pursues his latest nemesis into our time. He finds a world he must fit into, long enough to save.

    Weird!

I think the whole him being cast in Highlander was more in his mind than anything else. While I have no doubt that he may have auditioned for the role alongside a few thousand others I seriously doubt that he was even close to being cast.

Off the top of my head; how about the new Robocop - Joel Kinnaman, or Luke Evans.

Tom Jane even looks a tiny bit like Christopher Lambert:

(Although I'm thinking he might be too old for what they're aiming for.)

To be honest, I'd be happier with an unknown actor for the main role...

    Cedric Nicolas-Troyan to direct Source

With Reynolds no longer involved and the level of investment Cedric Nicolas-Troyan seems to have in the mythology of the series, I'm beginning to get hopeful for this...

You scared me for a second, whenever I see source and highlander in the same sentence I get flashbacks of ...this

kinda conflicted on this one .

the first highlander was perfect and is still one of my favourte flims. the blend of action and pathos was just spot on and it wrapped up so neatly.

but in a way thats its problem. its one of the few examples of begining ,middle, and end story telling which meant any sequel could only be bollocks.

so a reboot gives us a chance to get back into that mythology and leave it open for a sequel that doesnt feel like a blatent rip.

TBH i dont hold out much hope for this one but ill prob check it out if it gets made. theyve some fecking shoes to fill though. ive rarely seen a fit between film and soundtrack like the one the original had with queen.

itll be tough to equal that alone.
